This is a global phenomenon, but the news doesn't report on that.

People need to turn off CNN. Case in point: My parents thought that the riots in the US were being caused by white supremacists, and neither of them is a leftist.

The popular narrative of oppresion is a fabrication of the media who are desperate to stay relevant in the face of individual content creators that have more reach than they do, and a bunch of leftist fools. Both of which are desperate to hang on to power or grab for power respectively.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who backs this narrative is guilty of being a Useful Idiot.

Not White supremacists, White Antifa leftists who are currently unemployed and bored from lockdown so they have nothing better to do.

When Eric Garner or Philando Castile were killed, there were protests, but not on the scale as right now, that's because we didn't have lockdown in those years.

People are just bored and looking for an excuse to cause a ruckus.

I'm not going to get into it as it can be exhausting but I will say one thing.

Imagine if over half those protesters actually knew how government/democratic process works and are in tune with their own local government and made the same efforts to get the word out/educate and actually voted on election day? Some of them like to cry after the fact but aren't very proactive in preventing certain scenarios by sitting on the sidelines until it's too late and get into a reactive situation. A lot of them don't even keep up with current events/news unless it's heard through their friends of their favorite social media platform. How many even know who their local alderman or mayor is? I realize I'm generalizing here but that is a common scenario often times with these things.

It's the same as those that protest climate/environmental change and yet they take long distance road trips using fuel while only drinking bottled water. Their intentions may be good but they really need to educate themselves more and act on it in a proactive way IMO.

Problem is things get bottled up too long or people don't act on it proactively until something big or tragic happens and everyone gets on the tipping point. A lot of issues aren't anything new that is being protested. Most issues have been around awhile but yet no one has really made any real efforts to do anything about it. My $.02

Protesting is okay provided it does help to change society for the better, take Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela (peace overtures towards reconciliation), etc.

Rioting is a whole different story and for any society that's dangerous because it doesn't help anyone in the end.

Because Trump is in power. We had a major protest here in Ontario Canada back June 15, 2000 when we had a crazy conservative government too. The infamous name was Mike Harris and he was like a Trump dividing the province and vilifying the poor. You had people throwing molotov ****tails at the provincial parliament building and wanting an overthrow of the provincial government in a protest/riot in June 15, 2000. An account of this is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontario_Coalition_Against_Poverty . That never happened before, and never happened since after successive liberal governments came into power. Even the current conservative government is not as bad as the past Harris government. When a government is in power by making enemies out of groups of the population then you get riot level protests.

If a Democrat was in power or even a more sane Republican than Trump there is no way the protest would have been at this level.

When people protest a police killing infront the White House and all you can think about is teargassing peaceful protestors so you can do a photo-op with a Bible and threaten to use the military then you know you do not have a normal president like even Bush. In other States you have voter suppression where they close off polling stations and people feel if they can't vote properly without waiting on a 10 hour line-up, or if the politicians don't want to listen but respond by brute force, then you have protests in that scale.

This is such bullshyt. You wanna see poor go to other 3rd world countries.
Almost Everyone in Canada and the US have equal opportunity to make it in life. Its a whining game to the poor and its the lazy azz people that wanna take everybody's work.
Too much Soy in this culture.
No its not. I am saying one simple fact. There was no riots here since June 15, 2000 because we don't have harsh governments here like that one in the past. How can you twist that up and say something else? You like governments that cause riots like that?

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

America has movements because it has a lot of problems. And as @corrector said, there would be less protesting if the Federal government wasn’t so bad.

Don’t like the protests? Fix the problems they are protesting about. This isn’t rocket science..

you know you are just proving one little point, liberals are not people who behave and respect others, every single time a liberal win the right win respect it and try to work with it, the very time the left lose they start to riot nad force people to agree with they view, they can't respect others and the very democratic way they want others to repect when its then in power, every single time the left lose this happen, and not only in canada

and also because it a nice way to laundry money, I don't trust NGO the same way I don't trust goverments, they are always full of people who are not honest, criminals and only interested in personal advantages over others

also protests is not the same as riots and destruction, doing so weaken you points and intimidate weaker people, then things explode, and when they explode, it tend to be venezuela level to worse

Aimless life, too much spare time and looking for some cause to feel like they matter.

In other word easy life living on the goverment so they have all the time they need to worry about inventend inequality and feelnoutrage about everything.

Busy goal oriented ppl dont have the time to worry about that crap

Stfu and deal with it... there might come a time during your autistic lifestyle that you actually find an issue you care passionately about, and when you do, you're going to want somebody to give af

This is happening now because of the internet. The same internet gave us ISIS, MeToo and BLM. In the past if you took an extremist view and started spouting a buch of bull****, you'd become an outcast and people would avoid you. Now, you can just go online and find a community of millions of other people that think just like you and all of these people reinforce each others beliefs and it quickly snowballs. Meanwhile, people that disagree also get together and form their own groups online and so quickly the scene is set for a big conflict.

funny how mostly the movements etc. that affect the whole world happen mostly in the US. but when they happen somewhere else, it's like almost nothing (the huge chinese ones being the rare exception, but nothing compared to BLM)...almost as if US doesn't care what's happening outside, but cares a lot when the outside doesn't care what's happening in it

Actually the US is late to the party. Most countries had their revolutions. Anglo Saxon countries seemto be resistent against revolutions but good with evolutions.

As the demography changes the US might get similar to his neighbors in the south. They have always some kind of crisis.

Plus democracies have a tendency to socialism. Who doesn't dream about the perfect world the utopia where we are brothers and sisters. Like you love cats and puppies.

This system kind of works but it's tough.

Because the US is the big experiment and determins if that system works and if it works it will become expanded to the whole world.

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.
