When I was a kid i absolutely loved video games but my parents would always restrict how long i could play.

Video games were something that i looked forward to all day, during weekends i would play for hours on end.

Now I am an adult, there are a lot of games out there and I can play whenever i want, But everytime i try to play a video game these days I can't play for more then ten minutes before i get bored.

I'm not sure what happened, either i grew out of gaming or I'm just not into modern games.

Anyone else had this feeling?

I enjoyed looking at video games in 1992 when I was 15/16 years old. I was heavily into them and currently I can view a number of these old video games on youtube, such as this:
. These were the MS-DOS games. The graphics are very simplistic, not the movie-quality grade games like today or VR experience.

I lost total interest in this in 1993 when I gave my life to Jesus Christ and started coming out to church, youth groups and reading the Bible and praying. There was some residual interest in some games afterwards, like Civilization, in 1994-1995 ish, but not to the same level or interest as 1992. This was a time with the old internet which would take forever to download a simple game like that, like hours, and if you lost the connection, then you'd have to re-start from scratch over again.

These days, there was a brief brush with VR-games from the library in 2018, but it seems to have been short-lived. After buying a digital projector at home and watching movies on the wall of my home, even getting VR has lost appeal. There is no interest or time to look at any video games at all right now.

Sort of thing happened to me, Ps2 was my childhood and I loved those games so much. Now graphics are better and worlds are bigger but i have zeor interest.

The thing is I dont know when or why it happened but in a way i seemed to have grown out of it, been years since i properly played a game too.

In every airport lounge I'm at, seasoned travellers (yes you get to see the same old faces often) will play some sort of game to keep themselves occupied.

I myself play checkers, chess or some of those games that builds cities etc.

All work and no play ain't healthy.

I sometimes try to force myself but the interest just isn't there

I will always love the Fallout series though

Completely lost interest in video games when I turned 30 something. I still play some games on my phone because they don't require much time investment and sometimes I enjoy starting a game on Steam, but I usually play 20 min and then lose interest.

I still follow the gaming news here and there as I still have interest in the technologies behind game development and the improvement in graphics and realism or AI. Also some games are like a good story/book, like the last Death Stranding, but I couldn't play it.

Modern or older games?
That question was not for me but, the games I enjoyed the most for quick sessions on my laptop are independent games. They are just deeper, more fun and more thoughts provoking than the usual AAA.

Lost interest suddenly when I was 23. I play some here and there like PUBG, but I get to restless. I had so many better things I could be doing. Now this Covid-19 fvcked vp lot of my pursuits. I have time for videogames, but almost no interest.

Stopped playing when I realised the game of life has better rewards for me.

Count me in too, when I was a teenager I could have spent an entire day playing videogames but now I keep playing old ones with no interest in new ones.

Funny thing is that I loved open worlds back then while now it tires me to go around looking for stuff compared to binary games like cod.

I have a love/hate relationship with gaming. I pick one game and play it until I hate it, and then I'll take a break for years.

In the end, gaming is a waste of time. But I like the competitive nature of gaming and the hand/eye coordination challenge

If they remake more retro videogames I might get back into gaming. Here's a vid of Streets of Rage 4 being released on April 30th. It's a new entry into the series but it's done in the classic Beat 'Em Up style....

...listen to that music, Streets of Rage (and a lot of classic Sega games) had some awesome beats.....

I play Halo and GTA. That's it. I can see myself playing more in a few years, but I have no interest at the moment due to pursing other interests.

Nothing wrong with gaming if it’s in moderation.

I think you should find better hobbies to turn to when you’re trying to quit an addiction. Things like sketching, playing guitar, writing etc. .....hobbies that are earthy. Because playing video games can give you an unneeded dopamine rush.

I stopped June 2019 until 2 weeks ago where I struck up a game of Rainbow Six Siege. Much has changed (maps/new ops) so my K/D was .5 and kids were yelling at me for suckin etc etc. Last Sunday however I was back to my old 1.43 K/D ways with 2.0 performances. I feel obligated to play cause my PC is so kickas5, I have a standing desk, $900 chair, everything an older man needs, but I can't play more than an hour (or 2) or I'll be all fvcked up when I go back to work. Being presentable at work is more important these days than getting my rocks off beatin crybabies or everyday-players in a fantasy/virtual world. You're not REALLY physically fighting, so it's a kinda false "beating-your-chest" or sense of accomplishment or "toughness." It's funny how these kids or grown adults act out like they're actually "tough" on the voice comms when most of em couldn't do much if any pushups or physical exertion in real life. A few could though.

I have co-workers like 21, 22 years old or millennials in their 30s who game so I can relate to them, somethin to talk about "Hey, I started back this weekend" and they say, "gooood" as they've never quit and game every night almost because they have the energy (younger). The younger generations see no shame in gaming at my age. I think it's kinda bad for my health though past 2 hours a week so I'll only play on Sunday or possibly Monday. All other times throughout my week are healthful pursuits including reading, workin out, takin care of business, yard/house work, and in the Spring, Summer, Fall, gettin laid, although it's less of a draw to me nowadays considering the attitudes of women today but I'll pursue it (pvssy) given the right circumstances, the right woman. I'm disgusted by a lot of em nowadays though. They're like cats that sh!t all over you, take you for granted, just Evil. Uh, is it worth the trouble to get my d!ck wet? cause they're not bringin anything else, like idk housework or support of any kind, home cooking, intelligent convo, being a 'helper?'
