I can speak from personal experience on this since I have been involved with horses including training them for the past 45 years. I think this comment is largely accurate, but not completely. It is true that young women really gravitate to horses, but they also do the same thing to dogs. All kinds of dogs. If you look at the various breed organizations, and because I live in the USA, I am very familiar with the AKC, and the dog industry is completely dominated by women. As in horses, the dog industry is 90% women. And dog women treat their dogs just the way horse women will treat their horses. Where I would differ in the analysis is that while young girls are very interested in horses, and in a sense, it is subliminally a precursor to boys, it is also the fact that there are plenty of young girls, prepubescents that are just as horse crazy as the older teenagers. At least this is based on my personal experience since I have mentored more than a few young girls into the horse world. In addition to puberty, there is something genetic about the desire to be with a large and powerful animal. For boys, it becomes more practical and they usually are focused on cars or a mechanical vehicle, but for some, as in my case, I always liked horses, but I did not get into horses until I went to college. I grew up in the city, and therefore was not very much exposed to horses. In essence, it is not as complicated as the desire to manipulate a large powerful animal. It is much simpler and affects all creatures, especially horses, and that is one word: "Testosterone." A horse, has huge amounts of testosterone, and that is what these young girls are being drawn to . That and the idea that they can control and bond with such a huge animal. Physically, I am 6-1, 210 lbs and with a 49 inch chest. in my youth, I had a 47 inch chest. and a 34 inch waist. The average girl, even young girls are interested in size and substance. This goes for all mammals, even horses. So little girls and especially teenaged girl are very interested in size, power and testosterone. To a woman, a horse's testosterone is like Catnip to a Cat. She cannot get enough of it. It also works for the horse. In my early career, I once went to my Mentor, a Man, and told him my horse was sick and asked him if I should call the Veterinarian. He asked what was wrong with her, and I explained she looked "ill" and that she was having seizures in her rectum. He asked me to show him, and I did and he started to laugh. He told me that the mare was in heat, and smelled my testosterone and she was "flashing me." This meant that she wanted me to breed her. Because the mare had bonded to me, she was twitching her Labia to alert me that it was time for her to be bred. Very interesting. I should emphasize that horses and humans are very similar in the sense that in menopause Mare's estrogen is given to women to regulate their change of life. We have whole breeding mares that are bred in which pharmaceutical companies harvest this "estrogen" and the commercial name for it is "Premarin." It comes from the Urine of a Mare in Foal. Conversely, when working with stallions, you can always tell when a woman is having her period because the stallion starts to act up. A stallion can smell a woman in her Mensus at least 50 feet away and he will react to it. Sometimes very aggressively. We normally tell our female riders when there is a stallion around that they are not to come near them unless they have a MALE experienced handler as they can easily get hurt. A Stallion can tell when a woman is fertile far earlier than a woman can with her own cycle. They have an excellent sense of smell. And horses have preferences. Some horses do not like males, but most mares do not like females they much prefer men riders. There are women that have female horses that cannot get them to behave. But if I walk up to them, they become happy and agreeable and I can do anything with them that I want. They smell my testosterone, and it makes them happy. Sometimes I even see them smile and give a sigh of relief. (and yes, horse do smile. And they are very "talkative," they never shut up and in that sense they are just like women). One last point. All of these things are subconscious to these girls, they do not know what they are doing. Furthermore, women by nature, even horse women do not know how to handle or train horses for the reason that you mentioned. Women try to get horses to do what they want by intimidation, coercion and general bitchiness. The problem is that horses do not take very well to these forms of training. For about 40 years, I pondered the question as to why there were so few top level trainers of horses in comparison to men. Women have the body styles to be much better riders than men, because of their pear shaped bodies which brings their center mass closer to the balance point of the horse. Men (men like me that are big and with very wide shoulders and big chests make horrible riders because our natural balance point is so far above the balance point of the horse this makes it much harder for a horse to balance properly. Think of it like an ill fitting backpack that the horse can never get right. All my life I had difficulty riding at the very top levels because of my very poor body type for horses I have very broad shoulders and have a long back which means that my center of gravity is too high and I look very bad on a horse in comparison to a woman that has very narrow shoulders, short backs and very wide hips to bring her center of gravity much closer to a horse. All My trainers told me that I would never be a top rider because I was too big and powerful looking and had too many large muscles. For horses, you want just the opposite. You want a rider to have narrow shoulders, and a short back with long legs. I was just the opposite. On the other hand, because of my size and weight, it is very easy to get complete psychological control of a horse. They look to me as their natural leader, and while I don't look as pretty on a horse, I can train them to do anything because there is no issue with me and control. Horses will automatically follow me where they would give a smaller woman a much more difficult time. That is one of the reasons you rarely see any woman being a world class TRAINER. Almost all world class trainers are men and women keep taking lessons from these men because they can never figure out how to train the horses like men can. Even the best female riders in the world at the top levels of Dressage and Jumping still have men training them. And so while 90% of the horse world is comprised of women, at the top levels of training, 90% of the top trainers are MEN. And that comes down to the real secret, MEN train HORSES like we Handle our Women. We do not beat them or slap them or hurt them. We treat them (horses) like women, like adult children and this is what horses really respond to . They need a kind and giving leader. They hate the way women treat them as if they are beasts of burden. They want to be treated with respect and fairness. This is something very few women can do because of the nature of the female mind. And that is the OTHER SIDE of this excellent presentation. The way women interact with horses at the highest levels is something that horses do not like. They are much happier with men. Women tend to be rather frightened by horses. When a 1200 pound animal goes berserk--and they do--you need a little more than a 125 lbs little girl trying to take control. It's not Rocket Science.

Dogs are nothing like horses. They are extremely needy and love to shower you with attention. This is why women love dogs.

Cats are an exact carbon copy of women. They rely on body language to get what they want and don't want.

It was actually an interesting read lol...It basically said horses have HUGE amounts of testosterone, and that's why so many women are drawn to them and love them so much. It's like catnip to a cat

Only if the horse has a full mane. If Mr. Horse is Norwood-ing, forget it lol.

All kidding aside, having a large, powerful animal between her legs is probably unconsciously or consciously a turn on.

And there is a power trip associated with her feeling “in control” of this large animal.

You can buy testosterone and catnip...but, you can't buy awesomeness. It's a rare quality divinely bestowed on a chosen few creatures.

BTW, chicks like the badassery of the honey badger too, as shown here:
