Some of these guys get a double dose with RSD looks don't matter marketing. Then they actually go out and try it approaching everything in sight and get walloped. Then they try again and fail again. They try over and over again throughout their 20's. Maybe they get a bite from a fattie or two. Or maybe they don't. If they're smart, they "settle' for a normal/average looking girlfriend and get married.

Then there are guys who don't even try and they find themselves still single. In their 30's. Or they wait until even later. Then they wind up in the manosphere, MGTOW or just plain Incel. They're really in trouble now. If they were average or below average in their 20's, then the situation is usually likely to decline by their late 30's.

Now they are in their 40's. Now they're looking at mail order/internet brides from Eastern Europe and/or china or Colombia or wherever. At this point, their dating value has dropped off sharply. If they were a 5 or 6 in their 20's, a 4 or 5 in their 30's, now they are a 3 or 4. They are just begging to be ripped off. So, guys in the average/below average categories, the choice is simple: marry a girl who is average looking but loyal and live far more happily than they would otherwise alone, and subject to constant sex scams as they try to pursue hot women. I know a lot of good guys in their 30's who are perfectly happy with somewhat average looking wives. These women are sweet and loyal and they have hobbies in common and provide each other with companionship.

If you want to date well above your grade looks wise it will have to come from social circle or a place you frequent like work, church, etc and have interactions with woman.

The reason is that the longer you know a woman, the more other traits become important. This has been researched pretty well. If you are trying to date well above your grade on OLD or by approaching , you are going to have very limited success as looks are more important at that point since they don't know you well.

Men that stay in shape in theirs 30s is often higher smv than when they where younger

If a man keep some.muscle mass and a good bf% age dont affect them as much

While I agree that being willing to commit gets a guy +1 point in terms of SMV, I would like to remind everyone the low quality of the women nowadays and the state of things in terms of law and culture.

Committing may work when you get in a LTR with a girl a point above your SMV (which is not that great of a deal given that a today 6 was a 4.5 in the 90s).

In my opinion the most intelligent thing a man can do is honestly assess his value, the do anything possible to increase and once he is relatively close to him max decide if its worth to invest in what its available to him.

I believe a guy who becomes a 7.5 after his efforts could strike a decent deal with women especially if he is below 35 and willing to commit...on the other side a guy who despite his best efforts reach a 5.5 should avoid playing the field given the disproportionate cost-benefits ratio he finds.

Take a look at the wealthiest average to below average looking men in the world: gates, Zuckerberg, ballmers, Buffett, Bezos. Are they pulling dime pieces? No, but they have presentable average to above average looking wives. Rupert Murdoch married a former model, jerry hall, who is now 63. Most of these guys are older now but they weren't pulling dimes in their 20's and 30's either. They weren't even seen with cute girls much less hot ones. Their wealth made no difference.

btw, yeah I just performed this observational exercise and the evidence was overwhelming: most people are average looking and they are dating other average looking people. Outliers are just that: rare events.

The question is, how much of your time, money, emotional stability are you willing to sacrifice along the way? One such couple comes to mind: hot woman, average/below average looking man.
