Its unbroken sleep cycles that count. REM is where your body really recuperates. I lay in bed for 8 hours a night but probably only get 6 hours quality sleep when I take out time it takes to get to sleep, broken sleep cycles from going to the toilet and alarm clock going off.

I feel most refreshed after a power nap during the day than I do waking up in the morning however its not often i get chance to power nap.

I get somewhere between 6.5 and 7.5
It rears it’s ugly head if I lift hard on a particular day such as when I do heavy deadlifts.
So I try to adjust as needed.

I get 8 to 10. I have always loved to sleep. I have a theory that hours spent sleeping don't count against one's life expectancy.

What I can't do is nap, or at least expect to fell better afterward. I wake up feeling more tired and groggy.

Same here. On gym nights I sleep earlier and more hours then on normal days.

I have insomnia so I only sleep 3-4 hours a night and that's broken up because I constantly wake up through the night.

I function very good, don't even feel tired most of the time.

Guess I'm one of those rare ones who don't need much sleep.

Okay, I'm going to add something to this post because I'm probably the opposite of a lot of men on this forum. For 18 years I've been on permanent night shift. I get 6 to 7 hours sleep. Now, people will state nightshift is bad for you but look at my pic over the left. Yes, that is me. I will agree nightshift can be bad when you lose control of your life. For me, I work out regularly, have a part-time business, and I still function normally. First, I get at least 20 to 30 mins a day of sunlight during the warm months. I usually get more but that's an average. During the cold months, I use vitamin D in place of the lack of sun I may be getting. The nightshift gets complicated when you are married or have kids. However, if you are single as long as you have a healthy lifestyle it is doable. I could have been on a day shift a long time ago but I like working nights because of the downtime and also less drama. I'm not the gossip type of guy which most day shift or evening shift people are. When someone tells me news I act like Chris Rock in his stand up. I say what? you don't say? Really? I told you that ***** is crazy! Then I usually forget about it because I don't get a high of hearing negative news about other people's lives. That's just me. Anyways, that's how I do it.

Buy Why we sleep by Dr. Matt Walker

Check the JRE podcast. I think 1109?

8hrs is GOAT status. I am always working on this. One late night and I will be a mess.

2019, get sleep game on point. Keep hair vital, anti aging, and great for cognitive function plus heart health.

Less than 8hrs, its like owing a debt. You are indebted to the lack of sleep. Its less thsn 1% who are fully up to date with any less.

Best 15£ ever spent.

Right on mate. I had a late night out Friday. 5am FML.

Went creeping tonight. Operation get baeeeees. Didnt come close to pulling lol

Was absolutely exhausted. Chatted up a handful of baeees. Took digits but got eye ****ing and had chicks up on my space.

Was so exhausted, wouldn't even smash unless chick on top. SRS

The matt walker book or audible is genius. Dudes a neurologist and specialist in sleep.

Real talk, I have always HATES sleeping over at a girls place. At 30, i pull the chute after smash. Not immediately after nutting but, shortly. I do damage control to avoid a false accusations lulz

Walker explains its a defense mechanism. Unless in your own bed, you're not getting that deep REM sleep. Its evolutionary safety precaution to protect the body. Its why you get ****ed on tine difference or sleeping in a hotel.

I can now better articulate the following to chicks after smashin (women are still pissed regardless but i dont care).

I remember bailing afyer a smash, kissing a chicks forehead (she swallowed lol) and i told her i would call her later.

I went full AMS and did not lol

Its not but i am getting 10x REM sleep as of late. Thanks to Walkers book. The tips snd just working on it.

4 hrs of deep REM sleep> 8hrs of broken sleep.

I felt like **** since my late night.

Buying new bedding soon.

I tried to sleep at least 6-7h daily, feels okish on the work and evening time afterwork at home
One rule which I open for me is you must go sleep WHEN exactly you wanted 1st time of the evening, then you fall asleep quickly and have a healthy dream!

I think sleep quality is very important! Here are some simple measures that help me:

Be physically active during the day - exercise, go for a walk, take the stairs and not the elevator, clean your apartment, play with your children and pets, have sex, wash your car, go dancing with friends after work. In a word do anything to get physically tired by the end of the day, this state helps us sleep better. Mental fatigue makes you restless and stressed, physical fatigue makes your sleepy.
Make sure you have a comfortable bed, fresh linens and shut drapes in your bedroom. It also wouldn’t hurt to open the windows there for 10–20 minutes before you turn in to get some fresh air in.
No TV right before bed. The last hour before getting into bed should be spent reading or listening to audio books, taking a bath, having sex, applying beauty treatments or enjoying slow relaxing music. TV is too stimulating, keeps your mind alert and feeds it a lot of information that needs to be processed one way of the other which would keep you awake longer than you want.
Do some yoga or simple stretching exercises before bed - it would help you relax.
Try massaging your head and back of the neck with your own fingers for 5–6 minutes before going to bed. When muscles in this area are in spasm which often happens when you are stressed or tired this may prevent you from falling asleep.
Try aroma therapy - lavender oil put into aroma lamp or a couple of drops of on on your pillow as well as keeping a small sack of dried lavender under your pillow or on the nightstand can help your sleep better.
Take a hot shower or a hot bath before going to bed without immersing your head into the water. This will cause the blood to rush away from your brain to other parts of the body which would automatically make you sleepy, simple physics.
If you can’t fall asleep because of persistent thoughts about your problems that attack you once your are in bed, say to yourself: I will think about it tomorrow, and try thinking about some pleasant things, your best memories, your loved ones, the things you want to buy from your next salary and so on.

I notice that its not so much the total time but the moment when you sleep, sleeping 8 hours from midnight to 8 get me great mental and physical performances...on the other side 8 hours from 3 to 11 wont as much.

Also 8 hours of deep sleep are better than 10 hours of crappy sleep either cause you drunk caffeine, the environment is too hot/too cold or if you are stressed.

Too bad I have mentally sick neightbours that feel the need to make noise early morning and force me to sleep with ear plugs unless Im really tired.

Pretty much this, and I also want to add on that CONSISTENCY in your sleep schedule is essential. If you go to sleep and wake up at different times throughout the week, your biological clock is going to be fvcked.

Having said that, I've been trying to sleep 10-6am and it's the best sleep I've been having in a long time, despite waking up early.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.
