It's very possible the Roe vs. Wade decision could be overturned. How do you feel about that? Please answer the poll and add to your opinion below.

I personally feel that abortion is ending what will be a human life; however, due to bodily autonomy of the woman, you can't force a woman to go through with a pregnancy. This decision should be made early when pregnancy is determined before the fetus has significant brain activity. Based on premature babies being viable sometimes as early as 24 weeks, I'm not opposed to going to a 20 week limit on abortion.

One thing that I think should exist is for the father to be given an opportunity to relinquish parental rights and responsibility of a baby to avoid being strung along for child support for a baby he did not want. This would even the playing field in regard to parental decisions being made regarding parental responsibility. A woman after all can terminate a pregnancy that the father may want to keep.

I don't see how Roe v Wade will be overturned, however I am for men and women having the same rights regarding abortion, regardless of whether it is right to choice or right to life.
It is a precedent set by the court and should be respected; however, rulings in place in the future will likely have a 5-4 vote against abortion in the future. I'm not sure how far decisions will go; however, even decisions that make abortion clinics less likely to meet expectations set by new laws, can limit access to the ability to get an abortion.

Who cares?

Abortion is not the business of government anyway. It's the woman's right to choose.. This is the most irritating political issue there is. We waste so much time discussing this **** rather than real issues such as health care, jobs, and taxes.

Why do you get to decide what a woman does with her body? More importantly, why do you even care? It should never happen to your child / fetus to begin with.

Ugh, let's hope abortion stays legal. And, if the right to abortion is abolished, let's hope they blanket the nation with free birth control.

Otherwise there's going to be a lot of child support money being paid out. You guys definitely don't want that.

I live not too far from the biggest abortion mill in the country. They vacuum the unborn out of ghetto cooch all day every day. I have met church people who have worked in the "talk you out of aborting" van that they park outside. They claim about a 90% success rate, of the girls they get into the van, which is not to say that those girls don't get an abortion at a later date, but points to them being susceptible to influence and not particularly committed to one course of action.

Hell, for every abortion, there's probably a church lady out there who would take an unwanted kid if that saved it. I worked for a lady who did that, neighbor's daughter got raped, and she talked the girl out of aborting, paid for medical expenses, and adopted the kid as her own. I knew him, little weird, but very book smart. He has several degrees now, masters, JD, LLM, and was working as a bankruptcy lawyer the last I heard.

That guy is the exception to the rule, though. The saddest argument in favor of abortion is that we have let society decay to the level that it probably is better for the vast majority of these kids that they were never born. The political arguments are just a distraction from that unfortunate reality.

I've long held the belief that these are not "pro lifers" they are "pro birthers" because they really don't care what happens to the child after they ARE born, they only care in getting the child born.

Back in the day, (as the story goes on some conspiracy sites) the liberals were the ones, backed by Margaret Sanger, to "encourage" the lower class types to abort their kids.

Some Sanger quotes (source) that abortionists would like to forget:

We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population...

I accepted an invitation to talk to the women's branch of the Ku Klux Klan... I was escorted to the platform, was introduced, and began to speak...In the end, through simple illustrations I believed I had accomplished my purpose. A dozen invitations to speak to similar groups were proffered

The most serious evil of our times is that of encouraging the bringing into the world of large families. The most immoral practice of the day is breeding too many children..

As an advocate of birth control, I wish to take advantage of the present opportunity to point out that the unbalance between the birth rate of the ‘unfit’ and the ‘fit,’ admittedly the greatest present menace to civilization, can never be rectified by the inauguration of a cradle competition between these two classes.

The most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective.

A marriage license shall in itself give husband and wife only the right to a common household and not the right to parenthood.

Apply a stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of population whose progeny is tainted, or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to offspring

A lot of people were on the eugenics train until Hitler showed up and made it kind of uncool.

How quickly one can turn to agreeing 100% with you.

USA is both the allegedly developed country with the most vocal anti-abortionists and some of the worst worker & consumer protections and social policies. Ripoff, unsecured healthcare. No vacation. No parental leave and no childcare. No unionism. No free or subsidized higher education. You'd think if they were "pro-life", they'd be on what in America passes for the far left of socioeconomic policies. But they're on the other side, voting to keep it the way it is or make it worse. They don't give a shyt about the child's future when it's actually born, what environment it will come into. They just want to control other people, like the old movement to keep people from masturbating.

Sex education needs to be mandatory. Birth control needs to be covered under all health insurance plans.

Ironically, very people who are "morally opposed" to abortion take every step under the sun to keep fostering these unwanted pregnancies.

I think the idea is that we should all be god fearing and abstinent untill marriage - then we won't need birth control OR abortions

Agreed
I am sometimes assigned a narrative because I'm female. The intensity of that narrative typically surprises me.

It is what it is.

Their strategy is to scare people with the "consequences". Things like birth control, abortion, social policies to support parenting and sexual education make sex less risky and having children more feasible and more likely to be appropriately planned. That means people can have the sex life they want, which of course is what these loons want to prevent. So you've got to scare people. But if they can have safe sex without negative consequences, they won't be scared. Solution: campaign against the things that make sex safe.

I'm not deciding what a woman does with her body; however, there's a point when a fetus crosses into viable human territory, and I believe it is that line which should be regulated by the government. A woman doesn't need 30 weeks to decide to have a pregnancy. The baby could be born premature and survive at that point. Abortion is fine, but before viability outside the womb.
