I'll break it down real simple like.

Dopamine is the chemical that your brain releases when you achieve something that you percieve as achievement.

When you watch hardcore porn an jerk off your brain releases DOPAMINE in MASS AMOUNTS.

If you have only ever been an infrequent user of porn you might be able to get away with this.

BUT if you are a frequent/habitual user, you become DESENSETIZED to lower forms of Dopamine release.

What are these "lower forms"?

Having REAL sex (yes)
Hitting a PB at the gym
Getting a raise
Saving enough to put a deposit on a house
Going to a party

Basically, over time EVERYTHING in your life becomes less pleasurable. **** that should give you a buzz becomes BORING. This can lead to depression, laziness, social anxiety, being angry all the time, not giving a **** about anything etc etc etc

Obviously theres degrees of this but the more you use porn, the worse it gets. Porn is PROVEN to be highly addictive.

So the point of Nofap is shutting off this overstimulation and over time, (3 months tends to be a baseline to see reasonable results) your brain un****s itself so..... all that other stuff becomes interesting and desirable again.

So in short it's all about the DOPAMINE and resetting that **** to normal levels.

Footnote:

Before getting angry and saying this is all BS, think...I mean REALLY think if theres a CHANCE that any of the above applies to you, because if you DO have even a mild porn addiction, quitting that **** will up-level your game SIGNIFICANTLY.

I was a moderate porn addict who quit so any questions about my experience ask away.

I can actually agree with you here, i personally stopped watching porn like maybe some times here and there but never to actually finish or something just those 1-2 minutes, and then i shut it down.

Its been like this for almost 2 weeks and i feel a lot better, more eager to have actual "SEX" then fapping.

It makes me talking to woman far more sexually and far more confidently cause i have that URGE to actually create sexual tension.

So yeah i'm with you on this one.

Porn is bad and will always be bad, maybe is good one time once here and there but regularly or even daily is really a ****ed up way to go.

"Once in a blue moon" you can get away with but it is proven to be addictive so even that is thin ice.

If its had a noticable negative effect on you then you've basically got to just call it a day with porn.

Here’s another tidbit that proves it lowers test levels too:

When you orgasm, your body releases a hormone called prolactin. Guess what a side effect of prolactin is in men? Testosterone suppression....

Have been in no-fap for a while and stopped looking at any "suggestive photos". Do not relate with anything you are saying. Maybe it's one of those things where it's a placebo effect -- because you believe there is a certain result for the experiment and you hear other reports about it, then you see that effect. But for everyone you are saying it works, there are others where it doesn't work and leads to no measurable result in other areas. I just seem less tired or drained. That's it, but it's too minor of a result to write home about.

Eating too much food and getting belly fat can do the same thing. Also you will have an orgasm if you have REAL sex too ??

A couple of questions

What were your previous porn habits i.e how often and how many years

How long have you been on nofap without a relapse

It’s not the same for whatever reason. Having sex with an actual woman will affect you, but not nearly to the extent of masturbation. There’s even been studies that have shown that porn-induced orgasms are different from sex-induced orgasms. I believe sex actually causes your test levels to rise after the fact for some time. Not the case for jerking off.

[/quote]

Last relapse was at the beginning of the month, I'd say July 1st. Prior to that it would be June 10th or something like that. The reason was to see if it was still functional. Was traumatized by a spiritual attack that happened in December, 2014, a day after seeing a prostitute, where I could not get hard for fear something would snatch my soul and hurl me into a void-space if it happened. (i.e like the movie "A Quiet Place" except no-fap replaces sound) For a solid month there was an involuntary no-fap because of that anxiety. This is an issue that still haunts today and I sometimes fap to see if that same anxiety is there again. However, that excuse has run thin and seems to be entertained once a month when the no-fap is "too perfect". Chaste zones are between April 15th to the end of September where there is a low tolerance towards these things and an encouragement to go outdoors and bike or other summer activities. Fapping is seen as a distraction to enjoying nature.

Previous porn habits -- in maximum or peak of this year, would be looking at escort ads on backpage. The DOJ of America has taken an interest in my porn habit and has decided to pull that site from the web. Therefore, we don't have to worry about that anymore. This happened in April. When looking at escort ads, the peak was once per day or a fap would occur once a day or other day sometimes more. However, any pic of a woman can cause a fap. Even just a facial pic. If you don't think escort ads or a facial pic of a woman are porn (i.e. some may think they are just ads or a facial pic is just a facial pic). Therefore, a business card with a female face on it could potentially be fap-material. As of late there has been no arousal on these issues.

Sex with an actual female raises testosterone and your self esteem. It's due to dominance and sex. You smell her pheremones while your inside her, your human mind knows it's inside her. So the prolactin effect is not nearly the same as jagging off to porn.

Think about when you first started having sex.... You looked more manly, you saw the world different . It's because of the effect on the mind.

The other and very important reason for the nofap. Fapping ties sexual pleasure and release to jagging off to Porn . It's the cowards way out, giving in to weakness. So there is no real motivation to get the real thing. You need to rewire your mind so that if you get horny you realize you need some puzzy .

Love it how anonymous people on a forum think they're MD's. Yet, most, if not all urologists state that masturbation, in moderation, is both needed and healthy for men and women. I'm going to side with the docs on this one. No disrespect to the OP or other thread heads.

It's better to be having sex. If you don't have sex a man should self release from time to time.

You guys almost have me convinced to try nofap for a month. I said almost. lol

I have sex every 1-2 weeks, and fap another 3-4 x times per week or so. That's more than I used to do. So maybe I need to cut back:oops:

That means your sex life is NOT where you need it at. If your sex life is hitting you won't desire to fap. I'm glad your having sex 1-2x a week.

Much better than big Dave.

But from your stats you need it 4-6 times a week.

R.U.G. some things In this world we know better than the doctors.

We have doctor's here on getting laid and winning in this Babylonian system .

We also have doctor's for maintaining even thriving your masculinity in light of feminism.

We have doctor's at "the game".

Thanks man. Actually, I said I was having sex every 1-2 weeks (once), and fapping another 3-4 x times per week. Honestly I could have sex more but I live in a rural area. So I rarely see women during the week, only on weekends for the most part.

It's interesting that this issue is coming out of the 'woodwork' and being discussed here. I'd hazard a guess that 9/10s of 'the woman problem' for us men, at both the individual and societal level, stems from pornography one way or another. Most men are in denial about it because they don't know anything different...for them it has become normalized. But then that is supposed to be the whole point of 'red pill' - to question the perceived normality of the 'default setting'. Of course, the 'default setting' is the negation of freedom and self-determination... and wallowing and escaping into pornography is the epitome of that escape. Man up people. it will be a difficult challenge, but nothing worthy in life comes easy.

In so far as you are a free and self-determined individual, that is, an ethical one in pursuit of certain ideals, you need to question normal science. There is an irreducible conflict between norms and ideals. Going with the norm in the ethical sphere is usually just an ideological justification in order to resolve any cognitive dissonance we may perceive. But this cognitive dissonance, that we perceive in our ideology, is actually a good thing, for it would compel us to listen to that instinct we have for the excellent.

We should not 'outsource' our intelligence to theoretical experts, which is always a form of bad faith, but develop our own practical reason in the existential sphere. This is simply good old-fashioned ethics.
