I started to have hair thinning on my frontal side from age 28, and at 31 i went on to get FUT to fill the balding area and i'm happy with the results, look completely natural. Since then i been taking Finasteride (aka Propecia) and had no problems since.

I think realistically speaking, it's far more due to genetic that causes balding than how you diet. Don't think you eat a certain way it'll have significant impact. Only taking Finasteride or other hair loss prevention meds including Rogaine will significantly prevent farther hair loss, and having transplant is the only way to cover already balding region, hair simply doesn't grow back where it's lost.

Hair loss is multi factorial. It is due to lack of blood flow caused by calcification of bloodflow to your head. Remember the top of your head is the hardest part to get bloodflow. I'll find the paper later

He had a thyroid problem right out of high school and ended up loosing most of his hair because of it.

Something to do with a hormone inbalance effecting it.
Did he manage to fix it somehow? and in which way he lost his hair, did it look like common male pattern baldness or it was different?

That is a bit young to be losing hair. Once it gets too much just shave it all off bro. It honestly won't really make that much of a difference.
