Do you think folks do LASIK surgery simply to show genetic fitness?

I was reading this, and it got me interested:

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/11/well/lasik-complications-vision.html

my opinion: Folks (of either sex) are doing this to try and get a "leg up" in the dating market by showing better genetic fitness (i.e., good eyesight), and thus is the same category as breast implants for genetically unfit women with no tiits, or any type of deviation from what a good genetic face is (the YouTube channel FaceAndLMS is highly recommended for its discussion of facial features that are considered attractive).

How would lasik give you a "leg up" in the dating market? Wearing glasses really that much of a deterrent in the dating world?

Putting it in the same category as breast implants is silly. There is zero change in ones appearance from lasik.

Shoot I like my glasses more then I like my contacts...if I were not partially blind lol I'd probably still rock glasses without a prescription.

The idea is that someone having a LASIK procedure would not need glasses, and so yes, glasses changes the appearance, with the most important result being a display of genetic unfitness, at least to a certain degree. And of course, this is the reason why folks wear contacts, but they are a PITA.

So you are saying that glasses is now a fashion accoutrement that even folks with good vision would want to don? Perhaps with the rise of the rich computer nerd, females now see this as an alpha trait?

What I am saying is I never met a women ever mention glasses being a turn off, or they wouldn't date a guy who wore glasses. What I have heard women say is glasses make a man look more handsome (shrug). To each his own but I actually get drawn to women who wear glasses. I think it makes them look more unique, sophisticated. Not like people who wear glasses have them permanently glued to their face. Have you not seen the trend of people wearing glasses with no prescription or frames with no glass?

Wearing glasses has not been an issue for people in the dating market. Like some woman saying no to a man who wears glasses because she doesn't want her kids to be genetic defects? This is grasping, even for you lol.

People surgically correct their vision for many reasons, convenience being one of them.

another thing you are aware then breast implants, this eye sight correction and nay other things like this don't change the genetics, at the most it works on that person self esteem, of course unless people start to do like that chinese guy who after having 2 kids with a woman he divorced and sued her for lying to him :p
