My wife is religious which is why she believes that having a church wedding is the only way to get married. I, on the other hand, don’t really believe in anything that has anything to do with religion. I can’t seem to think of a way on how we can compromise with this. I don’t know what to do anymore. We constantly fight about this which is why I’m choosing to ask for help from the internet. It’s hard to argue with someone who was raised in a religious family. It makes sense because I met her through an international dating social event. I should’ve seen this coming when we first got together. I don’t normally do this type of thing but if asking people on the internet won’t work, then I’ll have no choice but to expect the worse. Any suggestions of advice will greatly be appreciated. Thank you!

Easily settle. Just marry in church, not a big deal after all.

Makes your in laws and wife happy.

All in all you profit from it.

Everything a man does must be profitable to him even when he seemingly loses.

Marrying in a church is quite a pricey move... doesn't change the fact that I'm atheist.

Tell the church you are atheist, they might refuse to marry you in their church. I'm pretty sure the Catholic church would refuse to marry you.

more then likely, or will ask for more money, simple put you can do this, ask her if marrying in a church is more important than you, you end it, chances are she will brainwash any kid she have(how you think religion still exist?), other way is say sure, but her parents pay the whole bill, since they are so traditional make so its the bride family to spend the money, also ask what they will give for the marriage, with is also a tradition.

If she is religious and you are not, then you really should not be getting married.

Asking the best place to marry one's wife reminds me of the riddle about the plane crashing exactly on a national border, and the question of the best place to bury the survivors.

I was just wondering if there's another way... does it have to be in a church to make the ceremony feel "holy" ?

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

She sounds like a religious pain in the ass. I'd avoid her. Do you really want to marry a status quo sheep?

At the end of the day, all you have to take away from a wedding, is memories/pictures.

Weddings are a waste of time, energy, and money.

Why not just have a family get together, and have some good food? That's all weddings were, historically speaking.

I'd skip the fancy pants sh!t.

I'm pretty sure there's a possibility to participate in the ceremony as a 'companion party' - so wedding is in church, she gets church wedding and you just get a wedding in church with the legal power of civil wedding.

I'm agnostic myself and that's the option I'd choose if woman would insist on church wedding. Go check it out.
that actually depends here any and all religious marriage have zero power on be actual marriage, you could marry with several woman in several churchs, and nothing would happen, do that in a civil manner then you are ****ed, its quit common here to do teh church marriage and together or a little before or after you get the civil matter done. example I know a couple who did teh church thing, and both are single when asked if married, and you can do only the civil thing without much problem too, its even faster, you can even have a quick reception if you like

Do you think the constant fighting about religion is going to end after you're married? Do you honestly believe that she isn't going to nag you to attend church? Would you want your children to be indoctrinated with religion? Would you want her yelling at you for making your children hellbound?

You'd better think long and hard about this. The wedding shouldn't be the focal point of your lives. The rest of your lives should be the focal point.

You should checkout Jordan Peterson, psychological significance of the biblical stories.

You will likely pull away a lot of value. The man is a ****ing wizard. Think Gandalf or Morpheus in the Matrix.

TS, I would 100% prefer a churchy chick > 99% of women today who are skiing down cawk mountain. Are running through dudes. They don't believe in God so, they dive full blown into pretentious narcissism in making oneself into God. The fallout hits as SMV craters and the male attention evaporates forever.

If you go into a church to get married, you likely have to do classes which is annoying and a bit of a headache. I have a blue pill buddy who is in that process getting married this summer. He watched the Peterson series and found new insight. For instance, the element of sacrifice is embedded into just about every story. The element is prevalent to this day by say getting married or going to college. Sacrificing the present for a better future. You do this by getting married picking one girl not all girls. She does the same. In doing these classes, they will ask you HARD AS F questions, some of which you could be blindsided by.

  • how many children?
  • who will watch your kids?
  • where will you live?
  • how will you discipline your children?
  • How many times a week are you having sex?
I am unmarried and cannot fathom such a ridiculous idea of monogamy and the curse of one vagina for the rest of my life but, I digress.

Its not really that bad. Say, you have a daughter. Would you not prefer for her to have a sense of value into something cosmic rather then emulating the Kardashians, bbc sex vids, and whoring around?

Sacrifice use to burning something on an alter in a primitive time. We've come a long way since then and the abstraction of sacrifice is not lost on you with taking up the sacrament of marriage. The symbolism being in the unity of two; that being the closest one can come to getting with the hold trinity. With God.

What to do TS? I would go tripping. Pop some mushrooms. Have a bon fire. Tap into something special. More then likely, you will comeback with new insight, appreciation, see the humor in everything, and feel in awe.

I smoked DMT last fall. Imagine taking a hit and your entire world goes lucid dream like. Next hit, you feel yourself fragment. Like, you separate between ego and self. I felt my ego holding onto everything that is and ever was and then I just blasted off. Think about every life after death stories you've ever heard of. Full blown tunnel vision. Light at the end of the tunnel. Then just darkness. And then, I am over taken by a flash light almost as if I just lived the creation stories while showered in gratitude, love, and all that is awe-inspiring.

It was the most profound moment in my life. I view the world through a different lens. If I was like you and getting married, I would want to explore consciousness with her, maybe do the tea ceremony in Peru with Shamans, and seek self knowledge. Learn karma sutras.

Good luck mate! Tell me how it goes!

OP, I'm agnostic. But I like to quote these Bible verses to Christian women:

Ephesians 5:22 - Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands
Ephesians 5:23 - For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church
Corinthians 14:34 - Women are to be silent in churches. They are not permitted to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says

I think there are more similar to this, but these are by favorite ones.

So tell your soon to be wife that if you marry her in a Christian church you expect her to follow these to the letter until the day you die.

I have yet to quote these to a Christian female who didn't fly off the handle!!

Not sure I follow your rational.

If said woman doesn't already respect him only second to her Lord God, why the **** would he marry her?

Furthermore, are you suggesting they write an agreement? Handshake?

In the west or the UK for that matter, divorce is over 50%, and somewhere between 70-80% of which initiated by women.

What word a woman gives you isn't worth the toilet paper she wipes her ass with.

Household spending is by women. She can sit on her ass, grow love handles, spend his life savings, and then, take his ass to the cleaners before hoping back on the cawk carousel.

Assuming she is PROPER; not a barn animal, TS vetted a good woman, and has nothing to worry about. That or he has no money and therefore, nothing to lose lol
