In a divorce there are two proceedings; a long term marriage, and a short term marrriage. A long term marriage is considered anything 10 years and above. In (most) cases where the court heavily favors the woman, this would mean the man would have to pay alimony FOR LIFE. Now you can try to settle with the woman and pay her a lump sum up front, which is very common. But think about it... you would be obligated to pay her until:

A) you die,
B) she dies
C) she remarries

Let’s be honest though, no woman is dumb enough to pick C. My buddy was lucky to be married only 8 years (short term marriage), so he’s only obligated to pay alimony until his kid whom he has joint custody of turns 18.

This was very eye opening for me and I’m sure a lot of other men as well. My buddy is a little bitter at the moment, so his detailed rant has definitely filled my head with biased information, however I thought I’d still share yet another reason this is a scam. Good day fellas.

Lopsided law.

Being a male in your society is not advantageous.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Don't get married. In my state, alimony is only if she wasn't working during the marriage and has a time horizon with a re-marry stipulation. I was married 11 years. She wanted $2,700 post tax dollars per month. She a nurse, I a mechanic. She does make a lot less than I. We also have 50/50 Joint physical and legal. That came to me at a tune of $10,000 in attorney fees. It cost her $30,000 to fight me. She is a piece of chit.

Here's the deal (I follow father's rights movement closely) - when divorcing, the man's wealth is redistributed to subsidize the woman's financial incompetence.

I have 50/50, she's a nurse, I'm a mechanic - I pay her $412 per month at 50/50 parenting time. It's equal, except for I have to pay her. So, it's not equal.

You're suggesting it's better to be a female?

I'd agree that being a clueless male is not advantageous. But any dude with half a brain (and a set of nuts) can easily clean up and stay out of trouble.

You'll pay as much or more alimony when she quits her job to raise the kids
Sorry dude, but your wrong there. Courts will look at her "earnings potential", and any dude with half a brain should understand that. And why would she quit her job to raise kids if you have them half the time?

Most alimony and child support is paid out of sheer stupidity, neglect, or pride.

@JonnyD123 long term marriage and alimony is dependent on the case, they may issue several years, but life is unlikely unless they are near retirement. The one exception would be in the case of a disability.

Depends on if she is capable of getting back in the workforce after years of professional stagnation raising kids. Her career is massive foregone future income in that case, that she sacrificed for the joint family. This is a classic high alimony situation.
you know you shouldn't let her stop working then, most country offer around 4-6 months of paid leave for woman, or even better don't marry, though even not marrying she can still call for living together and say you had a stable relationship, with could means you was married anyway

True. I do admit I am a bit conflicted in that

Just don't let her quit in the first place. Not sure I would date a woman that is okay doing nothing more than raising a home and kids. Once kids begin school at the age of 5, she certainly needs to re enter the workforce.

It is a slippery slope with women staying home. I see benefits to her working and benefits to her staying home with the kids. The benefits to working are likely better.

Just comparing his society and mine.

And mine is more advantageous for a man.

If I was an american man going to divorce, I would simply sell all my stuff and move to some country with no extradition agreement.

Think about it wherever you go, you get a +50% salary increase than staying home.

Clearly it works only for men able to drop everything there.

They want equal rights, equal pay, etc. Yet... no mention of divorce laws.
Woman r never satisfied with what they have now.

And they never will be satisfied, yes momentarily satisfied but never truly satisfied.

It's just their nature.

Understand it, and accept it as such then u r able to work around it to your advantage.

Yep, having someone depend on you financially is never a good idea. Breadwinner becomes breadloser in divorce court.

if i ever got married I was gonna sign over all my assets to my mom at least a year prior to marriage and stall our wedding plans until a year has passed then at worst I gotta pay alimony based on income but all my things are safe because none of it is mine

Alimony is still too much, nothing should be transfered once an agreement is broken.

Marriage is not the government's business. They need to stay out!

Better yet, have a significant other who makes decent income and DON'T MARRY. If things go awry, you can walk away anytime without financial or legal consequences (assuming there are no children).
