OP, he's just trying to either assert dominance or at least find out if you are on equal grounds. With all the nonsense of how to be more alpha talk around here, I'm surprised at some of the suggestions being given. Guess what? You want to be alpha, this is how it's done. No one ever acquired said status without confrontation and living in their comfort zone. He may just be busting balls. Bust balls back. He obviously sees something in you enough to test. Invite him and some other co workers to go drink a beer and see what he's about. Y'all will either find common ground or you'll see he's a genuine fvcktard. In the latter, punk his a$$ out. Preferably, in front of the rest of your coworkers.

Personally i think he is a hater.. I'm in good shape, big arms, back, chest back legs... maybe he thinks he can out alpha me!

I'm more leaning towards, telling him straight up to WATCH HOW he talks to people.. As i don't appreciate his attitude

I can verbally rip this guy, but my guess is, he will try his best to keep coming back with verbal comments..

Plus by calling him out, he may fear word getting out to the management, who may then take action against him..

There are already other work colleagues who do not really like this guy, and tell me what a complete penis he is!

Best to ignore him and stay focused on making money. No reason whatsoever for actioning this.

This is how you become a victim.. Some things just CAN'T be ignored..

It gives out the wrong message, i.e I don't mind becoming a target.

There comes a time when you have to stand up for something!

Thing is, guys that play soccer with a hornet's nest and DON'T get stung are cheating nature. As vicious as it is, it's better when natural selection takes it's course. This guy needs to get stung or he won't learn.

As for 2...Yes it's safe. But if our school years taught us anything, "telling" and verbal warnings never does anything right? Nature is a cruel cvnt, but her lessons are never forgotten. Tell you what? Try the ol 2.5...As in. Stop him in the hallway just you and him, pin him to the wall (no punches) and give him a point blank verbal warning to back the **** off. Your not quite "hitting him"...But it'll get your point across.

I told you to nip it in the bud but I think we're beyond that now. In this situation there is only one recourse available for a true Alpha male. Your honour has been besmirched.

You'll need the number of Sleazy Tony (I'll PM you), 2 metres of clean plastic sheeting, a polyethylene barrel capable of resisting hydrofluoric acid and a good, sturdy hacksaw.

Wait sorry, maybe I'm watching too much Breaking Bad. Carry on!

EDIT - What has this guy done, exactly, to be a jerk? Sounds to me that he can just be ignored unless he's actually impacting your work. Sometimes the best thing to do is just ignore these losers and they get bored.

On the other hand a little polite and righteous non-physical intimidation never hurt, if this guy is really a jack-off. Just tell him, honestly, straight to his face that you are getting tired of his game.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

^^^ This works. I've done it before. Only difference is I was the new guy and the old guard was sizing me up.

We became good friends later on and he took me up under his wings.

A man will respect you once you have shown that you r no pushover.

This is what I was going to suggest. His cloak is humor. If you call him out directly at work he'll swear he was just joking and sheesh don't you have a sense of humor (he will minimize and ridicule you) and he'll do the same if you go to your boss. Human resources are there to protect the company interests and don't give a flying flip about you, never forget that. You are big and strong and he can play the "I'm intimidated" card...pvssies do this sometimes.

So kill him with kindness. Ask him about personal things, what is he up to this weekend, does he want to join you at happy hour for a drink...be collegial not confrontational. I'm not the least bit fearful about conflict, but sometimes it's not your best tactic. You know how the guy who hits back on the playground gets in trouble more frequently than they guy who started the fight? You gotta outfox the dude. Right now you are too ticked to be cunning. Time to be more cunning.

Listen, I'm a chick telling you this. I'm not going to overpower much of anybody. But I can dam sure outsmart people. And I can neutralize people through kindness and inclusion. I've made a career doing exactly that where necessary. Aggressive behavior or conflict (which many yellow bellies in the workplace cannot tolerate as it creates discomfort) does you more harm than good. Befriend the guy. That's your best bet to neutralize him.

Keep your friends close...but keep your enemies closer -Sun Tzu

And if you have to "punk him out" as @Macaframalama suggests, you do it as publicly and with as much humor as you can...in other words you beat him at his own game should it come to that. But also realize if it DOES come to that the guy will hate you and scheme against you endlessly. Befriending him is a much better option if you can set aside your own ego.

I agree. Befriend him and when he starts being an ass, you can tell him to chill the **** out. Creating conflict and trying to one up each other will only cause more tension between all team members and come to a boiling point at a meeting or something.

You know why I like to talk to chicks? Because I can just tease the sh1t out of them and they won't pretend to be biggest meanest mutherfvcker on the block. They will just tease back and keep the ball rolling. This guy may be just the same -- he just like to tease and he is teasing you for his own fun. If you keep teasing him back you may won the battle or he may take it as invitation for some fun. If he does it for fun you might just answer his every tease as logically and as concisely as possible on the brink of ignoring him. This will kill the fun and he will get bored. As the result of this he even may feel that he is behaving as azzhole because of lack of fun and he will get some remorses.
