Facts: Have been divorced for almost 4 years after 30 years of marriage. In FL, with that length of marriage you can potentially get divorced raped for lifetime alimony. Hired a good lawyer (and paid dearly for it) and got a judgment of 5 years durational alimony at $1000 a month (I posted the story in a thread here years ago).
So, with a little over a year left of alimony to pay, my ex announces that she's going to file for an alimony modification. Chances are she won't win, but I will have to defend myself against it and potentially hire my lawyer back and fight through the H*ll of the Family Law system again.
The reason being is that once even $1 of alimony is granted, at any time, your ex can attempt to go back for more.
So gentlemen, read this and take it to heart. Once you marry a woman and stay in the marriage for a length of time, you may NEVER be free from her.
NEVER.
