I got to talking to this woman on OK Cupid, I actually knew her in real life as only an acquaintance through a party I went to last year. I started off with, "Hey,you look familiar..." (No this wasn't a line, if it actually DID happen, lol)
We get to talking and she beat me to the punch in only 2 messages, wanting to meet in person. I said, "Sure, may I get your number so I can call you up to make arrangements? It'll likely be next week."
She says, "I prefer to just meet as friends and see where it goes from there, please."
I was then taken aback by this, because she refused to give me her number.
Now, I usually have a policy about NOT getting a woman's number, I always had required that I talk and hear them on the phone first before meeting in person.
But I got a tip from a female friend that is also on OK Cupid saying that she NEVER gives her number, and just makes arrangements through the dating app messaging system. You know, date, time, and address of the restaurant.
She says the reason is that her phone number is VERY personal to her, and she doesn't want every Tom, **** and Harry from the online dating world having it in his possession. I think she mentioned how she had this guy constantly texting her throughout the day.
I think I may make an exception, because SHE initiated meeting.
Thoughts? Forget the number, and just arrange the meeting?
