Should this site have a 40+ forum?

I know there is a mature DJ sub forum but in my opinion there is a hell of a lot of difference in attitude, maturity and experience between a 25 year old man and someone who is 40+. Speaking only for my self I can appreciate the opinions of those younger, but have a heck of a time identifying with some of the issues they are speaking about. So I am throwing this out there as awhile back some one suggested a "grey game" sub forum. What say you? Thanks in advance.

I kind of agree with the OP....

The Mature forum isn't that bad but 25 ain't mature.... and sometimes hard to relate.

Life hasn't even started to **** them yet.

All I can say is that I am a totally different being at this point in life than I was 20 years ago. Priorities change and your response to what life brings is measured rather than knee jerk as in my 20's or 30's. So with that said I do think a sub-forum for 40+ guys would be appropriate. Mod's now it is up to you. Thanks and Happy Holidays...even you Big Neil!

I believe you have to be 35+ in order to be considered a mature man, a 25 yrs old guy is nowhere as mature the way we mean it in terms of experience, priorities and life style.

Im 31 and surely dont consider myself "mature" the way we mean in this forum, neither for life style or goals.

No, I am not even sure there should be a mature man forum. If the idea of so suave is to access the best advice then potentially you are reducing the number of posters. I don, t usually post in the high school forum bevause I am not at highschool but I think they would benefit from the advice of those who survived it.

I admit that 25 doesn't seem too mature to me although age doesn't guarantee maturity, wisdom or experience. The closer I get to the grave the more everybody seems like a whippersnapper.

I've always been amused that the "Mature Man" forum is for men 25 and above. Really, 25? So who is this forum for, kindergarteners? I'm sure a lot of guys are mature at 25, but speaking for myself, I didn't even begin to get my sh!t together until I was 26.

That said, I don't want to see a +40 forum because no one would post on it. The Mature Man forum is dead enough now as it is.

Y not just make age mandatory on profiles. I still gather good game tips from younger guys and vice a versa. So I wouldn't be in favour of excessive filtering. However my definition of mature definitely starts at 35. At that point you're starting to experience nuances and trade offs

Agreed that 25 year old have no life experience. Most have no clue what they wanna do with their life and are living at home with mom.

I've seen it tried here before. At one point there were sub-forums split up into 10 year age increments. One for teens, another for 20-30, 30-40, 40-50 and 50+... or something along those lines.

The teen and 20's forums were hopping and active. Lots of posts. But it was 90% crap, and more mature, experienced guys couldn't stomach posting in there. Younger guys wouldn't listen to them anyway because they were "old". On the flip side, the older forums were dead. Most posts either went without responses or only had one or two, and often, there wasn't enough activity to keep a thread going or enough advice being given to satisfy anyone.

Most people ended up posting back in the general forum as a result, and the sub-forums were pretty much consolidated back to more broad age ranges.

I think the range of age and perspective forces discussion and helps identify what's universal in game regardless of age.

If you really want age/maturity appropriate advice, either put it in the thread title or establish that desire in your first few sentences. YOu'll get more out of it than you would in a dead 40+ forum.

Besides, I don't know about you guys, but I've met plenty of women who may have been 30 years old, wanted to be treated as if they were a mature 40, but actually behaved like a 20 year old. Which forum would I go to for advice on handling THAT? lol
Agree. I like the general forum best because people don't get too hung up on age. We go more by the quality of the posts.

My time being in my 20's makes me cringe...it's so much better being older!

It always amused me that there is a forum for mature men, as if core issues with women change as a man gets older. I'm just 25, but the same old problems repeats itself into infinity like a broken record.

Great for avoiding teens asking about how to talk to girls though, that gets old really fast here.

Not sure, but it's taught on internet forums. Kids don't pay attention in class anyways, they're just drooling at that girl they never approach while reading on SoSuave forums about how history repeats itself.

well there isn't much of a point in having a general forum AND a forum for every age range

Guys, thanks for the responses. All make sense. Just threw it out there for discussion. Again appreciate the different perspectives.

It would probably be a good idea to raise the age in the mature man forum. Maybe not to 40, but at least to over 30.

Why? Because there's no great distinction between the two forums (mature only excludes under 25) therefor, the majority tend to stick to the main forum.

If there was a noteable difference, maybe the mature man forum would come to life.

Sure, the 'object' doesn't change, but the subject sure as hell does. Once you hit your 40s, you experience something of a Copernican Revolution; you realize that it is more about yourself, and the way in which you relate to the world, as opposed to worrying about the world itself.

I sincerely hope most guys realize that well before their 40s, because that's a long time to keep worrying about things beyond control.
