So is Trump gathering bankers and people from the financial world as generals?

He said he would 'drain the swamp' and that is what he appears to be dong with these appointees. Historically we've never had a president, or president elect, utilize social media this way and/or be as brazen and outspoken as he continues to be. He could lead us into conflict with his mouth, or his 'art of the deal' style of deal making could cause our economy to flourish, or nothing could happen and we flat line.

It's going to be an interesting, and probably unprecedented, 4 years.

Last time... bankers, big CEO, billionaires, property owners were given big political offices.. it was considered the golden age of America(and canada)
Trump also seems to have decided to make China the enemy.

Siding with Russia is smart (isolate China, ally Iran, leave the mid-east). Also, Russia with Canada have the most ressources in the World.

Most of Europe depends on Russian gaz.

Also doesn't have the power anymore to set up an arms race (where the usa would artifically increase its military production to create jobs) but China does (and they have commies name)

I think better relations with Russia is a good thing, but don't see what good comes from antagonizing China.

He is, at best, replacing the establishment swamp with his own swamp.

How is establishing better relations with a nuclear superpower that invades other sovereign countries with no consequences a good thing? Did appeasement ever stop Hitler?

The comparison is flimsy. Perhaps it applies somewhat to South Ossetia and Abkhazia, though I dispute that, considering those regions themselves have opposed being legally incorporated into Russia. Crimea is a whole other matter... Russia will probably pay greatly monetarily just for upkeep of the region (and my guess is they only care because of its strategic location, as does the US) but ultimately I don't see a problem with Crimean inhabitants exercising their rights to self-determination.

And please spare me all talk about humanitarianism or standing up for what is right. There are dictatorships and other regimes with shaky democracy all over the globe that the US turns a blind eye on, so long as they either give the US something it wants (Saudis anyone?) or have nothing to offer the US but pose no threat.

But to answer your question: It does no good to anyone to get into an open conflict with Russia. That's why better relations are an improvement.

This talk of debt is overblown. First of all, the government needs to be deficit spending to make the American economy and world economy tick. The reason why we have trade deficits with countries is because they need dollars to buy oil, so they structure their economies around securing a surplus of dollars.

Second of all, we control the dollar. We issue the dollar. And all our debt is denominated in dollars. We can't ever run out of dollars since we can just make more, so we will always be able to make payments. Creating money out of thin air will not cause inflation so as long as it is done in a smart way that matches that amount of available goods and services.

What the rubes don't understand is that money is just a point system. Creating money out of thin air does not cause inflation, as the central bank also regulates the demand for money (interest rates). Any time inflation gets too hot, they just raise the interest rates.... poof. The Fed rates are going up now because we are at virtually full employment and Trump is about to go on a deficit spending binge.

Russia works the same way. There is no "monetary commitment" that Russia cannot fulfill in its own currency. Russia also holds an incredible amount of oil reserves. Oil prices are the closest economic indicator to real inflation in the world.

Crash course on Federal financing for the rubes: What happens in monopoly when the banker runs out of cash to give out?

To avoid escalation which could lead to a nuclear war, which would trigger the end of humanity. Wanna risk another Cuban Missile crisis in Syria? Second of all, the USA and Russia are actually more natural allies than China and Russia. Russia is now a Christian, capitalist nation, and Putin being good friends with Trump will only isolate China. It will move Moscow closer to Washington than Bejing, which is a good thing for the US, as China is the real enemy here.

The USA does
We do so under false pretenses for resources, which is another topic. We no longer (in 2016) forcibly annex sovereign countries.

Why don't you just throw white in there? (since we know that's where you're going). We have little in common with goddamn Russia.

Number 1, I'm not white. And yes, I would say the US and Russia have more in common culturally than China and Russia.

It's cute to think Cold War ended.
China is the much bigger enemy at this point. If you're interested, read up about Jinping and the China dream. Funny, hours after I posted that, China seized one of our drones.

Why does the pretext matter if it is just an excuse? At the core, it is imperialistic foreign policy regardless of what you call it.

It matters because many of us including myself are against our own imperalistic foreign policy. Why would we want to be buddy buddy with our "equal" antagonist?

Not being antagonistic and being "buddy buddy" are not the same thing. It has been answered why.
