Good thread but I think TheMonkeyKing is on to something here.
Besides being useful to procreate & nurture their offspring & being a vehicle towards fornication, what other role do women project? Their primary role is to procreate. Being emotional beings is an overall hindrance. Emotion will drag you down and beat you to a pulp. The best weapon is to use rationality and deflect away the rest.
Women simply offer what men cannot. There are somethings only a man and there are only some things women can do. Also, we all have emotions...emotions are what drive and fuel us, it is impossible to only use logic...if all we had was logic we'd probably "off" ourselves.

Watch people, almost everybody behaves illogically most of the time.
...When you say a man should love a woman again, after being burnt. Do you mean after putting his hand in the fire, he should do so again without any regards to the consequences? Shouldn't he at least exercise caution? Wouldn't he also regard women (the fire) as having the potential for harm and thus, view part of their nature in the negative?
I think you're taking the word "love" here a bit too literally... I don't think anybody here is saying go back to a woman that has had an affair.

I do think however, that thinking of women as only vessels of procreation and nurturing is wishful thinking on those who say it. Why bother having sex? Why not jerk off into a tube and implant it onto a woman? Why do forums like these exist? Why are some men so bitter?

Let's at least be honest with ourselves, and say deep down (regardless of what we say outwardly) we see women with a much higher level of significance.

Just like us, some women are more mature than others and some women have a higher state of mind.

Rollo doesn't predict the behavior of women. He describes evolutionary psychology and reproductive strategies in human terms. His model, though a useful theory, does not take in to account for the infinite variation in human experience. That's no criticism, that's just the reality of pretty much any model of animal behaviour. You are thinking in very black and white terms.

No one man has all the answers. You write like Rollo is the second coming of Jesus or something. You need to start consulting other material if you want to transcend.

My argument is detailed above. As I have already said, your focus is on the behaviour of women and negatively so, opposed to your own behaviour. Understanding the behaviour of other is no doubt useful. However, there's nothing you are going to do to change it. As I have also already said, a 'Higher State of Mind' for me is to re-learn our OWN behaviours in spite of the behaviours of others.
I didn't know what a sh*t test was until I saw it written in the rational male. I didn't know why it was used by women or to what purpose.
But looking back at my interactions with women I see all the sh*t tests played on me and where I failed. A woman's psychology informs her behaviour. A semantic debate, isn't worthwhile on this topic.

There is no infinite variation. You can feed that one to the birds. We all have defined parameters. We all have value sets based on our upbringing and culture. These are pretty much immutable. It would take an extreme event (or series of events) to change these values.
Everyone wants to be different. I can see that in your posts. But as the old saying goes 'there's nothing new under the sun'.
People are who they are. The sexes behave in very defined ways. Only a fool would suggest otherwise.

I haven't read all of the rational male and Rollo may have covered this, but I haven't found any essays on abstinence. Being goal orientated. Having a mission, as the OP mentioned, outside the realm of women, is one way to promote the idea of abstinence. Without abstinence, or some degree of comfort in not having a woman around, we as men are destined to couple and be disgruntled with our lot.
A woman is an imperfect solution. Even multiple women and plate theory deny the fact that men and women seek peaceful solutions.
In short they eventually settle on one mate.
As rational as men are, when they feel the power of sex from a woman they desire, their rationality is soon forfeit.
Even James Marshall (your Jesus Christ) said he didn't want a monogamous relationship with one woman, and to be fair he doesn't. He even cautioned against settling for any one (ideal) person. Which to me means he 'gets it'.

I have no illusions about myself or women. I fear you do, with both.

I didn't mean to imply a man going back to a woman who has wronged him. I meant him moving on and being aware of this new woman's propensity for harm.

Our hormones drive our emotions. Once hormone production begins to wane, we become more logical again. For me you're still a young man at the height of puberty. Your opinion is (probably) based on what you're going through right now.
Eagle eyes, you speak of significance in regards to women. But we apply that significance to her within the context of a relationship. We make her our world. We worship her and adore her. When was the last time you brought a woman a drink you didn't want to have sex with?
Or compliment her, or do anything for her without there being some sexual connotation associated with the act?

A man becomes bitter with himself and his partner when he realises the trap he's in. He becomes aware that his partner won't sleep with him. In fact, doesn't want to sleep with him and his urge to do exactly that, runs contrary to hers. He may also find he doesn't want to devalue the relationship by having an affair. This leads him to emasculate himself, which leads his partner to lose respect for him and eventually leave him.
A woman may hate a man for cheating on her, but she'll respect the fact he didn't lie passively in her trap, to wither and die.
