Agreed that sh!t is disrespectful and at least now we all know what the situation really was. I advised giving this chick the benefit of the doubt because OP didn't have enough info at this point, but now he does and moving on is the best move. I don't tolerate the flake behavior well and neither should anyone else.

"Thanks for the heads up, hope you get everything done, have a nice graduation."

I don't think that is a puss response. I would have said the same thing. Getting mad is pointless and self-defeating. I have fvcked more than one girl who flaked on me the first night. Act like you barely notice - if you had a hotter girl waiting for you as an alternative that is exactly how you would conduct yourself.
Agreed. In the event that something DID come up, why blow a potential hook up later down the road by acting like a baby about it? I think OP handled this well.

I wouldnt initiate any contact, but if she reached out I would go right for the date close. I will normally give them a chance unless they no call/no show.
When she reaches out and you try and close her down, if she comes back flakey just tell her "I am interested in meeting up, not interested in a texting buddy. Good luck".

There is a LOT of power in walking away from a good looking woman. If there is nobody else involved in her actions she will come back around.

Went and got a haircut, got my shirt pressed, took a shower and shaved. Right about to call a cab and I get this verbatim:

"Hey I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I had some unexpected stuff pop up with my graduation and I really need to take care of that right now I'm going to have to cancel tonight I'm so sorry"

Damn man.
Heh. Guess the "can't stay out late" line doesn't seem so bad now, huh? lol

There will be many more instances just like this one. There will even be girls of lesser looks pull that same bullschitt stunt. I can't even remember how many times I've heard that same last minute crap. Just gotta roll with it. I read somebody on here was stacking dates 3 and 4 deep at the same time because the flake rate was so high. He would just schedule all 4 of them to show up at the same place, same time! hahaha thatswhat they get if they want to show poor behavior. Its pretty rampant.

Okay so I scored a date with a hb9 I met at a bar Saturday. We have been texting back and forth on and off since Saturday. I am pretty nervous since this is a date with a high quality girl hb9 graduating with criminal justice degree and forensic psych degree and have mostly been dating low quality slags. However, I will be fine once things start going.
Mistake #1: placing her on a pedestal. It's just a date.

"Wednesday? Okay just as long as I'm not out too late :) I am not a morning person so I need my sleep"
Mistake #2: Not reading the situation. This is her preparing you for the impending flake. Anything other than compliance is a woman's way of rejecting you. The response to this text is the take away:

"If <time> is too late for you, we'll link up some other time."

If she is interested, she will keep the date. If she's not, she will just say "ok" and offer no protest or counter offer.

Think about it dude.... why are you hoping this woman will allow you to spend money on her??! If she is not enthusiastic about your date, always do the take away to screen her.

and when I reminded her about the date after several messages she said

" okay sounds good I can't be out late though lol I'm an old lady when it comes to bedtime":)
Mistake #3: This guy is such a chump <---- she's blowing sunshine up your ass lubing it up nicely for the impending flake. Flake alert! You shouldn't have to remind an interest woman about your date. When you ghost until the date, an interested woman will remind you about the date. "Are we still on?!?"

Does this constant reminder show low interest and a trump card to bail out/cut things short?
Yup. She lost any interest she had in the first few texts you sent her. Moral of the story gents, get to the ****ing point and read between the lines.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME:

So, after I went no contact and she never texted since the last text where she basically said graduation stuff came up and now she sent me a text today THAT really sent me through a loop she said:

"Hey my cousin (A flaming gay guy) wants to know if you're going out to west 6th tonight. We are to celebrate my graduation :)"

Did this girl give me her gay cousin's number and he was texting me the whole time and got scared when our date was the big reveal? I would of been furious.

or

Is this a just saying "hey I am not interested, but my gay cousin wants to bang you so come out"

or

Is this a back handed way of showing interest?

Side door way of showing interest. Stubborn and immature if you ask me.

I don't know if I would respond. If I did I would be blunt and say that if it's the cousin that wants to know, I'm busy. If it's you that wants to know, either come at me straight on or don't come at me at all.

Thanks glassguy good tips I men she is just graduating which means she is 21-22 so the immaturity is unsurprising, I am 33, I always say I am 29, girls never know because I look pretty young and have a bateman skin regime with retin a, but I have never dealt with anything like this.

Respond, but say you are busy tonight make a counter offer if she makes up an excuse or doesn't respond, let it go and move on. You want her to know/think you are busy.

Sometimes women test men to see if they are open on certain days to see if they have ANY other options, so don't be so easy. You are spinning plates right? o_O

The cousin is family, so whether you hang out with them or not, do not show any disgust about him being gay. Act like you don't notice.

This - to me that would be the biggest fricking insult in the world and I'd silent next her. Forever. That's just amazingly thoughtless and rude. Typical woman behavior. I had one do this but it was her morbidly obese friend that she was shoving at me. Walked and never looked back. I wouldn't have done the fat friend drunk on a dare.
