If believing in your version of god inspires you to be ethical and kind then yay. If believing in the tooth fairy makes you ethical and kind then yay the tooth fairy.

Most atheists are open minded to new evidence. We would all be religious if there was good reason to be so. But we are getting a little impatient with fellow humans (nothing more than an advanced species of primate) telling us how to live our lives because they have the creator of the universe on their side. Julian believes in the Christian hell with Satan and all his minions and likely believes I'm going there. You bet his argument is going to be eviscerated with reckless abandon.

And please explain what evidence exists for an afterlife?

Thats just like, your opinion man!

The problem here isn't so much who's right or wrong, it's actually that you come across as a know it all douche bro.

Your argument hasn't invalidated anything. You have a false victory and boost your ego a bit by "eviscerating" me lol. Could you be more autistic

Someone claiming that they're agnostic about how we got here because it can't be proven with modern science, and another claiming an invisible person did it and that there is an army of demons trying to sabotage our immortal soul is not just a difference of opinion.

Sorry pal, your kind tries this all the time. "Hey we both have an opinion, it's a wash!" You don't get to treat those as equal opposites.

I'm not doing a victory lap because I haven't made any claims! My only claim is that your claims are comical!

To the thread topic: The only happiness comes from within... if you don't find it where you are.... its cause you either not at the right place or not discovering the right stuff (activities need to be expanded)....

About religion and science.... its the same ****ing answer anyway but takes different path: Religion is human centrized.... it says that you matter as a person.... Science says humans are irrelevant cause the world is too macro to have humans make a difference.

Whatever suits your boat is the true importance, relationship should be an extension not a solution

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

You don't need religion to feel complete, or whole. All you need is a group of like minded people that share the same goals, fears, and instincts, and the feeling of having each other's back when the chips are down. Bonus points is one of them is a hot girl that thinks you're a hot guy and you both enjoy banging each other silly every couple of days.

You may even argue, from a purely psychological point of view, that is why religious people have a feeling of "wholeness." It's not the belief in God that creates it, it's the feeling of community that is a natural byproduct from coming together on a regular basis for worship.

If you DON'T have a group like that, you should make it a point to build one.

And there's no shame in joining a church just to "belong" so long as you see the "God story" as a metaphor for something humans can never possibly understand. (more bonus points if there's plenty of horny religious girlies)
Why is everyone ignoring this post? Belief, Community, Purpose. It's the answer to the original post.
