Do you think sexually frustrated men grow beards out of that frustration?

I was looking at a YouTube video of the guy that does the Roller Steve Show (a show that mainly deals with male sexual frustration) and he has a full beard that would be the envy of any 72-virgin seeking Muslim man, and it got me thinking.

This type of beard only seems to be grown by Muslim men, who except for the sheikhs with their harems are mostly sexually frustrated, and hipsters, who seem to be evoking the manly lumberjack ethos of yesteryear, an ethos of the man far away from womenfolk in the woods. Of course, it could be that women don't like beards, and thus men who have women have the social pressure to stay clean-shaven, thus leaving all unshaven men as de facto without women.

I think the sexual frustration and the beards are both symptoms of the same social decay. I don't think they're related, but there may be some overlap.

Pressure to stay clean shaven? Never had a woman who tried to get me to shave my beard, my woman gets sad when I have to occasionally shave it off for a visit to a refinery that has strict facial hair rules for safety reasons. Many of my friends in LTRs are always bearded as well. Many of us are often complimented on our beards as well by both sexes.

The only woman I knew who preferred clean shaven men seemed to have a preference for guys who were rather effeminate in general.

Who cares. Grow your beard if you like it. Personally I think they are a bit trendy right now...not that it should stop you from growing one. I always have 7-14 days of growth. I don't like to grow mine long because it's super wiry and bristly and take a lot of upkeep.

Most women seem to like a degree of facial hair. But again, who cares what they like. For every chick who loves your beard there will be one who prefers you clean shaven.

you may as well have asked if men have crew cuts or flat tops because they are sexually frustrated. It's just doing what you want to do. I can't grow a decent looking beard, so I don't. My son is about half Wookie, so he doesn't shave because he'd have to twice a day. He trims it about every 2 weeks at a half inch.

There seems to be a trend with all the long-bearded old-timey hipsters in my area. I wouldn't be too surprised if they're sexually frustrated...I keep mine short and clean cut, best of both worlds I'd say.

It's trendy, whatever that implies. Not every man has one because he's trying to be like everyone else, but for the most part, that's what's going on. Beards are the cool thing for now. Next year it will be wearing a 3-piece suit for any and all occasions. Etc.

I recently read -- and agree -- that beards are the push-up bra of masculinity. All these guys who look like lumberjacks from the neck up, yet they wear women's jeans and don't know how to drive a stick shift. It's this decade's barbed-wire tattoo.

The university set is insane with this right now, btw.

It's funny because I used to have a badass beard but I shaved when this **** became very trendy, I couldn't stand being compared with those guys. I realized a little while that it was a stupid thing to do and I'm growing it back, but still, **** those guys.

I have a beard. I had a great time today with my fwb and I do pretty regularly. I have had it for years. I got it to hide another chin I was growing lol. It makes me look better I think. There are a number of woman who also seem to like it.. If they dont so be it. I like it, to hell with them.

Yeah, but this is more about the carrot jeans and lumberjack ripoff shirts. It's OK to have a beard if it's not over the top and you dress well (not necessarily trendy).

Do these hipster guys really think it makes them manly? I think they care more about trendy, not manly.

I don't think my fwb has ever turned down a moustache ride.
