Okay so a simple question really.

How long should/would you wait before you ask a work colleague out?

So background info;

Started at a new place of work, planning on being there a while/career. Met a nice girl who I would like to take out.

Do I get to know her for a bit first or just bite the bullet?

Main reason for the question is because I know dating at work can be complicated but tbh I dont care.

Gauge her interest level. If its already really high, just ask.

But... if you plan on being there a while with a career might want to not act at all. Drama and mad women in the workplace is strenuous and can cause tension between you and your boss.

If you're not going to care... Proceed with extreme caution!!! You'll be sorry if you don't.

No, you don't try to get to know her a bit first. That kills mystery and you'll just be another co worker that she yaps to about. There's also no definite time frame. If she's attracted you just get her phone number and text to ask her out. Just like any other girls.

You don't.

You must not plan on being there long if want to f*ck your co-workers.

Main reason for the question is because I know dating at work can be complicated but tbh I dont care.
So you don't care about your co-workers knowing intimate details about your personal life?

You don't care about potentially getting a bad reputation (deserved or otherwise,) in the workplace?

You don't care about how you're going to handle male co-workers trying to holla at your chick?

You don't care about the distraction this may cause?

You don't care about having to see this board everyday at work when the relationship ends?

You don't care about potentially being terminated because of sexual harassment?

Besides, why do you want to see her all day everyday?

yeah, sadly, the majority of my girlfriends/flings have been with people i have worked with, so i cant say dont do it if you are madly attracted. however, if it ends badly, you WILL mess up your work environment. Get with her and push her out the door... meaning job. Or else.

Yeh man totally understand, I also understand people trying to talk me out of this, but yeh I like this girl and would be after a relationship not a quickie, in my line of work I wouldnt see her everyday 90% of the time she would be working in a different area of the place, and id say 70% of people that work at my place or other establishments are in relationships or married to each other.

Also to add we are working away on a training course for a few month so this time is ideal

Definitely wait till you both are flirting on the regular....Where flirting becomes your relationship with her. Ie; everytime you guys are together at work, its just fun, laughs, flirting..

I mean it would have been helpful if you said what type of job it was, but no prob. Stick to the rule ^ you'll be fine.

Reminder to all:

Direct personal attacks will be deleted. You can say anything negative you want, just don't engage in direct name-calling.

How about instead of deleting people's post, you delete the threads of of those who clearly only made the thread to get people to concur with their preconceived plan of action. This dude doesn't want advice, he wants us to co-sign his f*ckery.

How about not participating in threads that seem to get you worked up?

Yeah. I don't know what his problem is. It seem like some kind of mental illness or something. It's one thing to say that dating from work is a bad idea, but it's overboard to keep trying to hammer it in. Maybe he actually got reject from a coworker before and got a sexual harassment suit slam on him for having bad game.
