Hi Everyone,

Where do you go as an adult to make friends? I'm pretty selective with my criteria, I prefer more of the nerdy home body types, confidence, I don't like people that nag.

I don't like the bar and club type, show offs, etc. Not into a religion myself but I do prefer the smart religious (group mentality, caring, respectful, active, outgoing - not extremes though) type.

I'm in the DC area, although outside DC about ~15 miles outside. What is a good way to find events? I'm nice but I'm not a goody goody two shoes type. More of a be nice and leave it alone.

My age group: 24-30

Hobbies and interests bring people of the same feather together. Period.
Get some outdoor hobbies like cycling, rock climbing, fishing, painting, soccer...etc. You get the idea and then you meet new people almost regularly if you can have normal conversations and social enough of course. from there you will never lack friends

Nice small bars.. Usually niche bars but any bar can work.. Just look for one with a good adult environment.. Not one where a buncha young douchebags go to watch a game.

Gastro pubs is a good one too.

Other than that, classes, events, festivals.. Comedy clubs, w/e

And depends on if yo uhave some interests/hobbies.. Ie: if you run, you can find a good morning running group or something

Op it's better to accept the reality that if you didn't form long lasting relationships in high school or college you're toast. You'll meet acquaintances through these activities and maybe people you can hang with but never have a relationship of enduring substance and loyalty.

You can have new friends as an adult. It will take longer period of time and some shared experiences to make it happen. You likely won't be able to bond off the "crazy" experience unless it was a hobby you did together.

Why do you say that?

Meetup is fickle, most guys are - i don't want to say "betas" - wussbags that I can't respect, and it's mostly sausagefests.
In my city.

Making friends only works if you're really interested in the other person and vice versa. Guys yammering about their office job, their same old ski vacation, I'd never invite them, not even to grab a beer because frankly - I'm afraid I might have a bad time. They're the same as stupid broads, even worse because I don't wanna sex them.

You don't meet a truly interesting person very often - and they're often not very available or interested in you. Damn, making a good friend is just as hard as getting a quality girl.

Maybe that's why I don't have alot of guys to hang out with. Whatever. Friendship must be real!
