I know most guys in this forum love porn however is watching porn much like buying clothes made by sweatshop workers in China, or should I say IMMORAL? Immoral not based on the church doctrine but immoral based on the filth that is the porn industry and what goes on the porn industry behind the scenes.

My question would be how can one support something which he knows it's immoral in nature? again i'm not talking about religious immorality i'm talking about it from a humanistic level.

From Dr Makow's latest article talking about just a bit of the dark side of the porn industry
Motivation
Porn stars rarely get started out of a free-willed love of sexual exhibitionism. Along with poverty and broken families, childhood abuse is very common.

Shelley said: 'Many actresses admit they've experienced sexual abuse, physical abuse, verbal abuse and neglect by parents. Some were raped by relatives and molested by neighbors. When we were little girls, we wanted to play with dollies and be mummies, not have big scary men get on top of us. So we were taught at a young age that sex made us valuable.'

Often they are teenage runaways picked up by pimps. They only escape one circle of abuse by entering another; they can't run from the pain so they go towards it. Fast forward a few years and they find themselves in a zombified state, drunk and drugged on a porn set as they re-live the same abuse they experienced growing up.

Brutality
Porn users only see a well-edited film. They don't see what happens behind the scenes; the girls that are crying and throwing up because they can't handle the hardcore acts they are being told to do. Jersey Jaxin explains what awaits you on set: 'Guys punching you in the face. You have semen from many guys all over your face, in your eyes. You get ripped. Your insides can come out of you. It's never ending."'

A girl's first time on camera can be horrific. She is disorientated under the bright lights and the sex is shockingly violent. The experience is more akin to an abusive alien abduction than a pleasurable sexual one. This is how Genevieve described her first scene:

'It was one of the worst experiences of my life. It was very scary. It was a very rough scene. My agent didn't let me know ahead of time... I did it and I was crying and they didn't stop. It was really violent. He was hitting me. It hurt. It scared me more than anything. They wouldn't stop. They just kept rolling.'

Her horror was in sharp contrast to the indifference of the crew.

'I had bodily fluids all over my face that had to stay on my face for ten minutes. The abuse and degradation was rough. I sweated and was in deep pain. On top of the horrifying experience, my whole body ached, and I was irritable the whole day. The director didn't really care how I felt; he only wanted to finish the video.'

Whatever artifice of control the girl had is now removed and Lubben has described what is left as 'traumatised little girls living on anti-depressants, drugs and alcohol acting out our pain in front of YOU who continue to abuse us.'

Drugs

The sex you see in porn is a lie; sexual enhancement drugs are used on set. 'Drugs are huge. They're using viagra. It's unnatural. The girls will be on xanax and vicodin,' according to Sierra Sinn. No wonder the sex is so vicious.

Perhaps there should be a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen noting what drugs the performers are on: Gary is on Viagra and coke. Candy drank half a bottle of Jack Daniels and then smoked some crack. Enjoy the film.

Most porn stars take drugs, in fact they are often on film to pay for their habit. The girls are traumatised and get high to numb their pain, as Becca Brat will tell you: 'I hung out with a lot of people in the Adult industry, everybody from contract girls to gonzo actresses. Everybody has the same problems. Everybody is on drugs. It's an empty lifestyle trying to fill up a void.

Disease

It should be no surprise that sexual diseases are at pandemic level in the porn industry.

With chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and herpes being passed from performer to performer there is a backdrop of sickness to a porn set. In fact, they often act as laboratories for the creation of whole new sexual diseases, such as the novel herpes of the throat.

When disease is added to the already traumatic nature of being a porn actress, it can all get too much, as Tamra Toryn found out: 'I caught a moderate form of dysplasia of the cervix and later that day, I also found out I was pregnant. I had only one choice which was to abort the baby during my first month. It was extremely painful emotionally and physically. When it was all over, I cried my eyes out.'

That's the part of the article on the porn industry itself. The other problem with porn is that it makes men obsessed with sex and makes them forget what is really important as explained in the comment below.
David is a 22 year old British man. He writes: "My generation have been conditioned to accept porn from a young age.... In primary school I even remember my classmates having soft porn material and phoning sex lines. Then, growing up watching porn online was sort of 15, 16 onwards all the way through university was normal for all the guys my age.

This was all normal to me. What set alarm bells ringing was that I went to a college in university with a diverse range of foreign students and met girls form India, Kenya, China, Japan, Ghana and so on and they were very different. They warmer, more gentle and caring than english girls and thought english guys acted like sexual animals. So I had to figure out why we were like that and porn is the main reason. I dated a chinese girl, she was caring and presumed we would always be together, for my english generation that's dinosaur thinking, but when with her I suddenly felt tremendous stability for the first time in my life. She would care and love me no matter what and I felt free to focus on my two main passions, politics and music. I then realised how much pornography and lack of stable relationships were making men too obsessed with sex to focus on anything important. So I came to the conclusion porn was an attack on us."

I know there are many types of porn. The material ranges from normal sex to downright violent and degrading.

Personally I try to avoid anything where it seems that the woman is being abused or degraded. Though there will always be people who enjoy that type of stuff.

What bugs me about the above story is that the girl never said stop. She just kept going. I'm not saying that the crew is blameless but she had some responsibility in what happened to her.

Isn't that a condemnation of our society though? why do poor people have to steal? why do women have to prostitute themselves? A society that keeps wealth at the very top makes people at the very bottom have to lose their dignity to survive.

She not saying "NO" is very telling of the world and the condition we live in when you think about it.

Uh, you're getting pretty philosophical there.

But just because you asked.

Women do porn, strip or prostitute themselves because it is a quick way to make a lot of money in a short time with only a small amount of effort.

I don't know how much money women make in porn but strippers and hookers who are smart can make a ton of cash. Why be a waitress when you can make a thousand bucks a week?

So no, they don't have to do, the exception may be occasions where pimps and drugs are involved. I'm completely against situations like those.

First off, most of the pornstars voluntarily get into porn, unlike the prostitutes from human-trafficking.

Having said that, us men are part of the problem. With our incredible sex appetites, we ensure that the demand for porn will always be there, and thus girls will always be tempted to enter the industry in lure of the fast buck.

The male sex drive really is that powerful - it can override any morality one might have if left unchecked. Until we learn how to channel it into productive areas, the porn industry will continue to grow.

How do you know that, exactly?

Oh right, it took PORN to make men obsessed with sex. Right... all those centuries without modern porn and yet there was still raping etc. ... but yeah it was modern porn that made men obsessed with sex.

They don't. In all Western societies the bare necessities of life are so easy to get that NO ONE dies from poverty. If you really want to make some bullsh!t claim otherwise then you need to go look at the 3rd world like sub-Sahara Africa where REAL poverty is. The "poor" of the Western world live better than the kings of olde.

They don't have to, ever.

You're right, the collectivist societies like China & the Soviet Union of the 20th Century were horrible places to live in where all the wealth was collected at the top. Good thing we don't live there.

I used to work as a web designer at an adult entertainment-related company. We weren't a porn studio ourselves nor did we shoot any films, but this company had more to do with the business/marketing side of porn. I worked there not because it was my first choice, but because the economy was ****ty at the time, my unemployment benefits were about to expire and I needed to find something in order to pay the bills.

While the job was pretty laid back and tolerable, I just hated being around the industry, and a lot of the weird people that go hand in hand with it. Some are normal people, but many of them just have no souls. Since my job was technical in nature, I was more likely to be staring at code on a screen all day than watching sex scenes. I could kind of block things out and forget where I working. However, I did see a lot of porn around me and had to deal with it. My first week on the job I must have had a non-stop hard-on. But after awhile, you get jaded and desensitized to sex, which is a pity. Prior, I used to get an instant erection just seeing a vagina, even if it's just on screen or a magazine. I could no longer even get excited looking at a woman spread eagle. Guys that shoot porn scenes are some of the most soul-less, jaded people you could ever meet.

I still look at porn, but I do realize that it can be damaging. It does make you forget about the emotional side of sexuality and view sex as only an act with the only purpose being the orgasm. You also see all these beautiful women with perfect boobs and ass. You can see all this variety too. Black girls, white girls, Asians, Latinas, thick, thin, tall, short, it makes it hard to appreciate one girl in your life when you're used to getting off to all this variety.

As for the women themselves, I don't feel sorry for them. They are there because they choose to be. They don't have to be doing porn, but many of them go into it thinking they are going to be the next Jenna Jameson and make all this money. Most end up being washed up, broken and worthless. They've been stripped of all dignity. You'd be surprised how little porn chics even make. The guys as you'd expect practically work for free unless it's a famous guy like Peter North or someone with extraordinary abilities. I can't feel sorry for the girls because it's not like they're innocent victims. You get many forks in the road in life, and that is the one they choose to go down.

That said, I'm thinking of signing up for http://www.mikeinbrazil.com/ . I crave luscious Latin women with ginormous asses.

Not to sound insensitive here, but you have to be 18 to consent to being in a porn film. That means you're legally responsible enough to decide for yourself what you are and are not willing to do. People held me accountable for all the dumb decisions I made when I was 18. Even with all the crappy, self-destructive indoctrination I received along the way that led to those dumb decisions, nobody ever gave me a free pass because of it. I just did my best to learn from it. I don't really see why I should feel bad for someone else's decision that they can reverse at any time.

I agree that porn can become addictive and distract you from much more important aspects of your life than sex, though.

Porn is amn incredibly sick industry, but men need it, or at least we think we do. I cant stop, even though I realize how fvcked up it is. Of course, I would have to look at less porn if chicks would stop playing the 'game' and give it up.

Ha great point!

If women were easier there would be no need for porn, strippers or prostitution!

I generally agree with the OP. The thing that you failed to give note to is the damage porn can do to people that become addicted to it. Like any other addiction it can be progressive and cause the person to be maladaptive.

It's all right........ if u have a good time!
The thing that OP failed to point out was that they're trying to lead you into a pretty typical feminist trap, infantilising women and pointing the fingers at people who watch the ****. I've seen plenty of porn that is supposedly 'totally unedited'. Most regular occurences are **** like the actor calling 'Cut! Do I have to ****ing act like this? This is stupid. And this ***** is boring'... never seen physical violence. Maybe I watch pretty tame stuff, no gag factor or physical violence for me...

Now I'm not heaping the blame on women or ignoring their circumstances but the degree to which they are infantilised in OP is stupid. And this 'how can you live with yourself while watching this' crap.... it is just a ****ed up situation where you can part blame the crew and directors and part blame the actors and actresses. But ****ed up situations happen and they'll keep happening. Blaming the viewers is just pointless shaming, another go at demonising the average male.

I download it illegally anyway, so what do I care
