The NFL owners committee voted 28-4 in favor of a modified overtime scenario. Gone are the days where you could simply kick a field goal in the post 15 minutes of a tied game for a victory. Now the first team to score a touch down is the winner. If a team kicks a field goal in overtime, the opposing team gets a chance to field the ball. If that team kicks a field goal then it is obviously tied and the ball must be kicked off again. If the 15 minute period expires at a tie, then a subsequent 15 minute quarter will be played until there is a winner.

So far the rule is just for post season play but there will be another meeting in May to discuss whether or not it will be used for regular season play as well. How do you football fans feel about the new rule change?

Both teams should get an equal amount of possessions to score in overtime regardless if it's a FG or TD. I don't like making special rules for playoff games either. It should be all or nothing.
