What you say is contradictory - all religions say "Do not be the AGGRESSOR/Kill" - yet their king tells them to kill in war and they do it? Then they are NOT a religious society!Ace of Flames said:I've always held the belief that religion is a tool to control the masses. If you notice, the leaders of most civilizations that have religion seem to be impervious to said religion. They kill and do whatever they damn well please, then use that religion to keep their people in line. Its pretty clever, when you think about it..
Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

Depends on where you're reading. If we're talking about the bible, Jehovah and his followers were about as blood-thirsty as they come.Last Man Standing said:What you say is contradictory - all religions say "Do not be the AGGRESSOR/Kill" - yet their king tells them to kill in war and they do it? Religion itself is contradictory. At least Christianity is. God loves you, yet he sends most of his people to hell? If God made people in his image, and yet we are imperfect, God must be imperfect, right? There are so many things just like this. Flip to any random page in the Bible and I bet I could find some contradictory statement.Last Man Standing said:What you say is contradictory - all religions say "Do not be the AGGRESSOR/Kill" - yet their king tells them to kill in war and they do it? You have extremists, as in the inquisition, which was about political control, but then you have those religions who are genuinely spiritual - who do not want others/government/kings to control them!
Aha, it just so happens the Great One has spoken on this issue!Religion itself is contradictory. At least Christianity is. God loves you, yet he sends most of his people to hell?
God is like Pook! Don't try to simplify him. Embrace the mystery. The Holy Book of Pook said:People see Pook. "Look! He is athletic. He enjoys talking about sports. Therefore, he is a jock."
Pook then talks philosophy. "Look at that! He must read books! Therefore, he is a nerd jock."
Pook then listens to the women. "Oh, he is so sweet! He is such a Nice Guy!"
Pook then cycles through the women. "How is this!? Pook is a Nice Guy Player!"
Pook then pisses off a woman. "What ho! Pook is jerk-like!"
Pook then makes a speech. "Look at him go! Pook is an orator! He must get his own radio show."
Pook then writes an essay for a paper. "Wow! Pook must be a writer! Look at him go!"
And this goes on forever. In the end, they conclude Pook is a Nice Guy/ Player/ Jerk who's writer/orator and a nerd/jock. No wonder they are confused. The longer they know me, the more of a mystery I am to them...
We've fallen from his image. See Genesis 3. You obviously haven't studied Christianity much at all, yet you insist on attacking it!If God made people in his image, and yet we are imperfect, God must be imperfect, right?
We've fallen from perfection, right? Assuming God is perfect. How can you stop being perfect once you ARE perfect? Its things like these that tell me its all a hoax.Obsidian said:We've fallen from his image. See Genesis 3. You obviously haven't studied Christianity much at all, yet you insist on attacking it!
Right.Mctwist4 said:Well duh! It's because Eve ate the apple out of the tree and fuc'ked us all.
I can accept that a few crazy people believe some of the things in the Bible. But I'm not sure I'll ever understand in my lifetime that a good majority of America actually believes everything that's in there! We like to claim to be the intellectually advanced country, but in this respect, it definitely doesn't show.Ace of Flames said:Right.
And the talking snake with legs conned her into it.
Christians believe the strangest things...
And now we get to another point: Christians are hypocrites. The Bible is the Word of God, right? As followers of God, you must follow his word; You can't pick and choose what you like and don't like. It doesn't work that way.azanon said:I can accept that a few crazy people believe some of the things in the Bible. We have "free will" which equates to the freedom to choose, in this life, to do what is right or do what is wrong!Ace of Flames said:We've fallen from perfection, right? Assuming God is perfect. How can you stop being perfect once you ARE perfect? Its things like these that tell me its all a hoax.
That was one of Jesus' main gripes about religious leaders. If you look at Christianity as what Jesus said and did, versus the modern holier-than-thou televangelist-style version, they can be very different. Being a hypocrite was what angered Jesus about the church people of his time, yet Christians today are known for being hypocrites. He said that one can't serve both God and money, yet most churches are run like a business. To criticize religion on these terms is to agree with Jesus himself, but that's a horrific accusation to throw at a non-believer.Ace of Flames said:And now we get to another point: Christians are hypocrites.
Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Meh, I'm not so much a non-believer in God or Jesus as I am in organized religion.Bible_Belt said:To criticize religion on these terms is to agree with Jesus himself, but that's a horrific accusation to throw at a non-believer.
You speak of right and wrong, .... morality, as if its a metaphysical concept.Last Man Standing said:We are genetically designed to know the difference to know right from wrong - this is why children hide or lie when they do something wrong -- this goes for adults too.
