cardio & calorie restriction do not work for most people. do a search here on losing weight or losing bodyfat.

Yeah, but how many have you been taking in?

E.g If, hypothetically your BMR = 2000, you're buring off 1000, but taking in 4000, is a net gain of 1000c a day.

OK, you need to get a firm grip on your intake, like the others have said. Give us a typical day's diet - an HONEST account :) Then we can figure out what the hell is up.

Ignore the scale. Use a mirror.
That's excellent advice kerpal :). Bodybuilders or even many of the big lads here are technically obese according to things such as weight and BMI - but their body fat % in general is reasonably low. The scale doesn't know what your body composition is or what you look like - use the mirror to gauge your process

and forget gauging any progress over anything less than a month or two. lots of things contribute to weight fluctuations over anything less than that, especially water retention.

Better yet use a tape measure, it's more accurate.

Amen to the suggestions above, the scale is the devil.

Even the mirror and tape measure can be dangerous if you want to compusively use them every day, like me.

I found the best indicator of progress was a monthly front and profile picture, one week is just too short of a time to notice any changes, on the scale or otherwise.
