would'nt the world be a strange world if everyone just stated the plainly obvious,but was courteous and kind behind everyones back??and everyone had that smart alec humor.. instead of talking smack behind someones back we talk good about them,but we say to their faces what we usually would say behind their backs to spare their feelings or because of politness?

As a poker player, it would be quite foolish for me to say "Hey, I've got (these) cards".

I COULD go around being completely honest about everything, but more often than not I don't see the benefit of brutal honesty. This isn't to say that I'm a pathological lier, but I avoid telling the truth unless I see some sort of benefit (or if I'm around friends and lying isn't necessary).

Closing comment: Deception usually leads to the path of least resistance.

People assume that you're doing it because you think they're stupid, as if they wouldn't know what was going on if you didn't explain it to them.

It's also annoying: like a b!tchy woman, a little kid. or a retarded person constantly commenting on everything around them; people will think you're similarly ill-tempered or simple-minded and treat you accordingly.

Also, people know how much they suck, so they neither need nor want you to call attention to it. Besides, going out of your way to piss someone off is a bad idea, as they (or their friends) might act on it in a way that would be bad for you.

If I knew a million dollar secret, I wouldn't just go waltzing around saying "Hey everyone, I know a million dollar secret". Now, if someone were to specifically ask me "Dude, do you know a million dollar secret", I would probably only hint at it, or more likely I would downplay my own knowledge of the secret. There's a difference between outright lying and avoiding having to divulge the full truth. I usually only tell people partial truths. The only people that I'm absolutely honest to are family and close friends, and even then, I wouldn't just start telling them every little detail about what goes on in my life unless they specifically ask or it benefits them as well as myself( this is not deception). To put it extremely simply: I don't talk more than I have to.

As we are all aspiring DJ's, this is something that we should all keep in mind if we are to maximize our pick-up efficiency.

Fair enough. When you said "I COULD go around being completely honest about everything, but..." it sounded like you were implying that you choose to be actively dishonest. My mistake.

It should be noted that honesty does not equate to "not lying." In fact, lying can be perfectly honest if it is the only way to protect private information.
