hey ya'll i was wondering
i'm 5'9 150lbs not skinny kinda average body looking

i'm just starting to work out now and was wondering if i do 5 reps 5 sets of everything, ie: bench, curl, squat, etc. etc. how long will it take for me to get cut/buff looking?

i have access to a full workout gym so i'm basically just using all the machines and such doing 5 sets 5 reps.

or should i do more reps and less sets? i'm not looking to get cut/buff right away or anythign like that, but trying to get more fit and be healthier. any sugguestions will be helpful.

and when i lift i lift the max that i can start when i'm fresh and when i get more tired i drop the lbs down a few and countinue till i finish my sets. Is that good or should i keep it at one set weight?

The good old 5x5? Yeah, it'll work wonders as long as you have the genetic ability to recover from it. Don't do too many movements and sets in addition to the 5x5. Do a three-split and do the 5x5 on squats, deadlifts and bench presses on seperate days.

Every time you've made it to 5x5 with, say, 200lbs, go to 210 lbs and then keep hammering it until you make it to 5x5. Then increase. The key to size is strength, and nutrition. 1.5 grams of protein pr pound of bodyweight, and you'll see you strenght, and in time, your size, skyrocket.

Have fun!
