I've recently started in a new place of work.
I get called in when my boss needs me, much like many of my fellow employees. We are on a list, like a pool of workers, and called up successively.
I feel like Im sometimes in competition to prove myself and covertly earn more work than my other employees. I want as many hours as possible.
:box:
Basically I need to find out if someone is stirring things up for me.
I need to sort this out.
There are two main contingents involved, I will refer to them as:
Guy 1.
Guy 2.
So Guy 1. is a pretty easy going person who I get on with ok. He gets full time hours, despite starting the same time as me.
This is his only job.
Guy 2. is also easy going and someone who I get on with but not as well as 1. Hes a little older and more focused in life and has another profession as well as this job.
Quite randomly, Guy. 2 told me this afternoon in the car on the way home.
"You should watch out for that guy. 1, he said some funny things."
Today at lunchtime my boss asked where I was (in the office waiting for some paperwork to be faxed through). We are often out and about and not always on view.
"Guy 1. said you (me) were sitting in the office on my a** being a lazy B*stard"
I replied to guy. 2 in the car, "hes probably trying to make himself look like a better worker than me" brushing off the sudden piece of advice.
My instict says guy. 2 may be stirring things up for me and that guy. 1 was joking about me being lazy, perhaps humouring the boss?
What should I do:
A: Confront guy 1. asking him if he said what I heard he said.
B: Ask guy 2. for more info on what guy. 1 said (who else was around etc.. for proof)
C: Take my boss aside and clarify what actually happend.
D: ......?
