Quick tip for everyone that I'm sure half already do.

When working out one of the most important things you can do is to keep a record of what you're lifting.

The reason is that otherwise you forget what you SHOULD be lifting, and normally either fatigue too quickly lifting too heavy, or waste several sets lifting too light.

I myself did the latter, and in keeping a record have discovered that I am between 10 and 30% stronger than I've been lifting!

So, keep a record, and know EXACTLY what to lift when you go to the gym.

good advice. everyone should always know what they are going to be working when headed into the gym. don't go to the gym and think "hmm what am i gonna do today". you need to have it planned out.

Second Quick Tip: Aiming High

Set short-term and long-term goals for yourself.

It gives you an extra push to pour everything you have into what you're doing. Not only that, but when you reach that goal, you really feel like you've earnt it and you've made something of yourself. When you reach that goal EARLY, it's one of the best feelings you can get.

I set a short-term goal recently to do an extra set of squats and increase the weight by 15 KG.. I gave myself four weeks to do it. I did it in two. I also did the same to up my bench press by about 20KG over the space of 5 weeks.

When I achieved those goals, I realised just how much I wasnt doing when I was lifting, and just HOW important it is to set goals :)

Dorian Yates said that genetically, a good few people were superior... but his mentality and goal setting made him all he can be, and that if some of the other lifters used his approach, he'd be in serious trouble.
