Working out and insomnia

For the last month or so I have been in a cutting phase and so far I have been getting great results (lost 15 lbs in the last month and a half). My endurance is up and I am in the best shape I have been in in a long time.

Here is my problem, I seem to suffer from a bit of insomnia that I feel is tied in to my working out and exercising. I have no problems getting to sleep just waking up way too early. The harder and more intense the workout the less I am able to sleep. I do not drink coffee or take any other caffinated products and am currently not taking any suppliments other than a multivitamin.

Has anyone else had this problem, or can anyone give suggestions on how I can get my proper sleep

You never mentioned how much sleep you are getting. People who regularly work out usually sleep less than sedimentary people anyway.

Well before we change anything lets see if this is really a problem...

Are you not feeling well rested? Or is this just a change for you. I find when I workout I dont need as much sleep and often get more restful sleep.

How much sleep were you getting before and how much now?

Also how early is early when it comes to waking up?

Mine is pure magma (Im very warm blooded) :D

Jokes aside let me give you an example:

On a typical day I usually work out for about 45 minutes to an hour. Sometimes I add cardio to that, sometimes not

I usually wake up between 6-7 am

On a heavier day (workout til failure, plus a 20k bike ride, and maybe a walk or hike afterward), I usually wake up the next day at around 4-5 am. I usually go to bed between 10pm to 1 am. However, no matter the time I go to sleep I always wake up at around the same time. This is how it has always been since I can remember

I am usually fine until the afternoon, when I get somewhat groggy. That passes eventually but my thought processes and motor functions are somewhat compromised.

Most likely it is all in your mind. The human mind is a poweful device. We can make ourselves sick, etc.

Have you ever heard of the placebo effect? This undesired occurance may be an example.

Scientifically speaking: your symptoms do not correlate with working out. Working out intensly and sleeping are -- generally -- an illusory correlation. There must be something else in your life that is going on, but you are not mentioning it.
