hey guys. im really skinny but in good shape...have a six pack and some definition. im about 5'8 132lbs. the one body part i really want to improve on are my arms. very skinny. my question: say i work out my arms by lifting on mondays and thursdays. is that a good idea? would that be enough time in between workouts for proper growth?

Read the stickies. And no, your arms aren't going to be big if the rest of your body is tiny.

It wouldn't hurt. You'll also need a need good night's sleep as well as plenty of protein to grow. Monday and Thursday is fine. At least you're doing SOMETHING as opposed to saying "I'm not going to workout because I don't know everything about it there is to know."

You have to start somewhere.

Cheers!

you are a skinny turd who thinks hes big sh*t cuz he can rip out a WEAK sixpack and "some" definition. it takes about 10 pounds of body mass to add an inch to your upper arms. the point? you arent gona get anywhere by acting like a poseur and only working your arms.

dont be a poseur. lift hard, do SQUATS, and get big.

And you are a pretentious flamer who is too busy attacking people to give complete advice.

slickjesse, do weighted chins and dips. Those are the ultimates for arm and overall upper body mass, as well as squats and deadlifts for overall mass.

wow its awesome how some people here are actually helpful and some are total ****s. i guess i didn't explain myself well. im not just working on my arms....im working on every part of my body, thats just what im most concerned about because i feel they are in need of the most work. i dont think im "big ****". i was just pointing out that im naturally skinny but in good shape (actually my chest and sixpack aren't "WEAK" ass clown...i dont weigh very much but im not very tall either...its not like i look sickly). i know im probably not kicking anyones ass anytime soon but when girls see me without a shirt i get lots of compliments (definitely from hotter girls than a certain douche bag who responds just to make himself feel bigger and badder). im happy with myself but i would like a little more size in my arms and everywhere else. ive been eating constantly, hitting the gym, and taking whey. sorry that im a "poser". thanks guys who actually responded to my questions and this whole board in general that has taught me a lot.

Your arms, biceps, specifically, is one of the smallest muscles in your body.

But hence, everybody loves the huge bicep, It's what attracts attention and it's what everybody wants.

But tooo many people overtrain it. And therefore, they rarely get the results they want.

Depending on your schedule, i usually work my biceps with back or chest and the same with triceps.

Do not forget about your triceps. They make your arms look a lot bigger.

Just dont overtrain your arms.

Do some bench presses, some squats, some deadlifts, some shoulder exercises(military presses, arnold presses, etc), weighted dips, some bb curls or db curls, for me, I love preacher curls, they seem to work for me.

But thats the thing, find out what works for you. Get advice, go to bb.com and read some of their advice, visit some other boards, do some research and then go and do it.

What works for me, might now work for you. Yes there are only so many exercises, but maybe you need to do less or maybe you need to do a little more. Just go out and do it.

Also, you seem a bit skinny, for you to gain any mass and size, you need to start eating more.

To build muscle, you'll need protein in your diet.

Your arms are usually worked in every exercise. Be it shoulders, chest, back, etc. Your arms are always being used.

Some people don't even have an arms day and they can build mass. Some people say BB curls, etc are only isolation exercises. THey do deadlifts, squats, benches, and military presses.

I dont' know, but discover what you feel works best for you.

You should train your biceps and triceps on seperate days. If they are trained with other body parts, train bi's and tri's first. I would also go heavy, and only train them once a week.
