Firstly, I posted this in the anything else forum, but I'm sure the best responses would come from the older people on this forum, and i'm not sure how many of you post in 'Anything Else' i assume, not many.

So if a mod would leave this year, i'd really appreciate it. And if you guys could give me advice, I'd also really appreciate that.

Before I start, this isn't 15 year old work experience you do for 2 weeks while in high school.

I've found that i have a little extra time this semester, and i've found that i could fit in 1 full day of work (8 hours) on a Friday. In past semesters, I have been studying at Uni 5 days a week (bad scheduling, they weren't all full days), and fitting in an 8 hour shift at a local factory to pay my bills. This semester i have 2 days completely off, and 1 afternoon off.

In my afternoon off, I'll do my normal 8 hour shift at the factory, but rather then take on an extra shift there, I'm thinking it would be more beneficial to offer my services to a company related to my degree.

What I want to know, will this work experience be looked at favourably when looking for a full time position in about a year, or will it just be dismissed as doing the worst mundane tasks that this company could find for me to keep me out of there hair?

To date, I've completed 2 years of a 3 year degree.

also, for anyone who is in a management/hiring position, what type of things would impress in my application?

thanks very much for your time.

It depends on what you have your degree in and what kind of job you apply to.
usually what impresses peopel the most if your fit: when you work experience _matches_ their requirements for a position.

Since you dont know excatly what positions you will be apply to, try to get experience relevant to your degree.

One of the biggest complaints companies have is that they are getting all of these people with nice bright shiny new degrees but no experience. They want experience so internships or part time work in your field would count. Their second biggest complaint is that they are getting all of these people who have nice shiny new degrees who can't communicate (write or speak) properly. (as an example, just look at a lot of the posts here - misspellings, improper use of words etc)
