I've been wondering,

Do skinny/slim women normally age best? Do they typicall stay slim longer than their counterparts with normal figures (or those who already have weight issues)?

Or is there a lot more to it / is it kind of unpredictable?

I'm a work out kind of guy, and I know there's an oversimplified idea of 3 different body types..one of them being "ectomorph" (slim/skinny).

To my surprise ..now at 27... quite a few people who would be c onsidered to have the ectomorph built, have put on quite some weight by now. The girlfriend of a friend of mine who is the curvy body type, who doesnt seem to have an eating disorder (she does eat chocolate, etc. in normal amounts), and is too lazy to work out (quit her gym membership years ago)...is still in perfect shape at 25.

What are your observations looking back..regarding the women/friends you've had? Is body type (e.g. being naturally skinny rather than just normal/average) overrated when it comes to this?

I don't think body type is a reliable predictor of whether or not a woman will put on weight. Her lifestyle choices are more reliable indicators. Does she make time for exercise? Is she active? Is she health conscious? If she's health conscious in her early 20s, she'll probably become even more health conscious later so it's a good sign.

I can tell you one thing for sure, most girls who smoke age HORRIBLY. Their skin starts to look like old lady skin by the time they're in their mid 20s.

it also depends on genetics, and some traits can "jump" generations,

ie my mum who is like 60 was really skinny in her 20's, is now a little plump, her mum was skinny, but she looks like her grandmother (aparently)

I've noticed, the bigger the tits, the more likely they get fat later on. My ex is 37 now, and she is still a 9, if you aren't a boob guy. She has gained a tiny bit of weight (probably 140 lbs now) since I met her five years ago, but she still has a great body.

COuld this thread please be removed into the mature man forum? I put it there intentionally, as I believe the more life you have to look back on, the more likely you'll be to be able to judge this.

Men in their 40s,50s, etc. (there are quite a few in the MM forum) can probably give the best input on this.

I'd appreciate it, thank you!

Here is my response as a "mature man":
I think it's mostly unpredictable, unless like Lexington says she is really health conscious to begin with. Most young girls are skinny in their teens and early twenties. After that, I can't tell you how many of them I've seen pork out. They reach a certain age and they just expand, get wider, it's amazing. I've seen this over and over. I suppose it's mostly lifestyle choices, as this seems to be mostly an American phenomenon.

Women have a tougher time keeping slim because their bodies don't have the muscle mass that guys do. The muscle helps keep a guy's metabolism high and burns calories. But there are girls who stay slim all their lives, and I hate to say it but a lot of these girls are smokers. They probably smoke instead of eat. Then there are those who are just very conscious of what they put into their bodies, who keep themselves fit and slim. But just because a girl is thin when she is young doesn't mean she's going to stay that way, no.

Unfortunately for a lot of the women who stay slim as they get older, they tend to get more wrinkles. Because they don't have as much fat content to smooth their skin out.

Very rarely, you see an older woman who has somehow remained young looking. I know a woman in her 50s and with her face and skin tone I swear to you she could pass for a 27 year old. It's freakish honestly. But that is very, very rare from what I've seen. Makes you wonder if she has a pentagram in her basement or something.
