cool. The next time I go clubbing I'll take an army of robot women with me for social proof.

I guess you could technically declare a vibrator a robot and say women are already having sex with Robots. But this whole notion of having a robot mimic a human and form an emotional romantic relationship reeks of:

1) complete and total ****ing retardation
2) complete and total ****ing social retardation
3) massive amounts of LSD

Does it? If it was possible to create a robotic being with a highly developed response system that basically mimicked a humans' response system, and it was basically BELIEVABLY HUMAN, would it be okay?

Can't imagine a machine having a vagina that feels indistinguishable from a woman.

I think more likely though in the future will be designer children who have features picked by their parents just like you'd pick options on a car. Intelligence, height, good looks, eye color, athleticism, etc. The technology for this stuff probably exists already, if not, then it's right around the corner.

I can see our homes full of non-humanoid robots in the relatively near future. We already have the iRobot Roomba and other cleaning 'droids, and if you get right down to it the common dishwasher is really a robot as much as any industrial robot is.

The next thing might well be huge companies like FedEx fielding fleets of autonomous delivery bots, trucks that drive themselves and some sort of gizmo to bring out the goods.

Within 40 years I bet I have a robotic maid, but I don't think "she" will look good in a skirt. With all those pieces in place though there's no reason a pretty decent human facsimile couldn't be your maid-bot, and it's a pretty short step from there to "let's see how realistic this maid is" after a little too much tequila I suppose.

I wonder if that means I can get a backrub without a bunch of complaining?

Nah, I don't want to end up giving half my stuff and the house to a maid-bot. But once it's an almost perfect simulation of a person I can see a lot of guys with a house full of "maids".
