Has anyone noticed this? if you type the term "w0manese" it gets blocked. Has any angry feminist taken control of this site? Does someone find it sexist or something?

I'm very curious.

No, it's not an angry feminist. The guy in the seduction community that coined the term has copyrighted it or something, so that it can only be used in his work.

The term has been trademarked so the admin decided to block it.

The fact that someone copyrighted or trademarked a word has nothing to do with it's use in a public, non-for-profit forum. If those things were an issue, we couldn't use any terms here that were trademarked. I mean think about it... that means we can't type the names of book titles for example. Or mention a specific protein drink in the fitness forum.

I believe Doc Love coined the term "w0manese". I find it hard to believe he would care that we are using his terms since this is where many of his customers dwell.

It's not a big deal, I'm just disappointed that the moderators would give in to such a silly request. Also it sets an unfair precedent.

It doesn't matter who coined the term.

The fact is that someone trademarked it. As for the specific legalities of the use of trademarks you should consult trademark law or ask a lawyer.

In any case Admin has decided to censor the term.

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

Threat of expensive litigation is the real law when it comes to intellectual property. There's no legal violation here, but it's still not worth getting sued.

I searched the internet. "How to speak ******** (R)" http://www.authorhouse.com/BookStore/ItemDetail~bookid~36200.aspx

That book just reeks of gay. Check out the cover, it's meant to be about men understanding what goes on in women's minds but it's got a picture of a woman holding electrodes on a man's head... that basically sums up how *****-whipped America is right now...

Some better examples:

xerox (verb, to copy something)
kleenex (noun, nose tissue)
google (verb, to search something via the Google(tm) internet search engine)

All of these, especially the last one, tick me off. I only use generic terms, unless I need to refer to the company for whatever reason.

Notice that I deliberately didn't use capital letters. When something ceases to be a proper noun it means that it has really gotten under society's skin.

yeah, Im disgusted by this decision on the mods part. I mean, if you are going to make such a panzy decision, atleast block all other words too to make it fair. block walmart, mcdonalds, microsoft etc.

It just makes me angery that the mods are cherry picking words to block and then saying "oh its becuase the word is copyrighted". Well, so are many other words, but those arent being blocked.

I feel like Im being lied to and I also my intelligence is being insulted by such an explanation.

The guy that invented the term MILF missed a trick. I'm going to trademark AFC and you'll all be stuffed.

Looking at the law it is applicable if someone is trying to 'pass off' the term as their own when making a profit, or is diluting the trademark. I guess thread after thread on this site with that term in it could lead to the site being legally challenged, and as someone who has had his other site chucked off several servers at the merest whiff of legal action, I can sadly understand the logic behind the decision.

It bugs me much more that we can't say **** **** **** or *****. Are we not men?

It's not the mods' decision. It's the website owner's.
