Why do women like suits?

Yesterday, I was wearing a suit because I had an interview to go to and I knew I looked good, but I didn't think women would really care. More of like "Oh, he looks nice... whatever." But I was catching looks a lot more often than I thought I would. It looked like they were eyeing me out, but when I catch 'em looking at me, they would look away almost to imply "No! I wasn't looking! I STILL have higher standards than that!"

I got on the bus and out the corner of my eye, some chick just could not stop looking at me. I turned around to look her dead in the eyes and she just turned away and then at the floor. She kind of made it awkward...

Suits don't show any muscle or face attractiveness, how come they are so much more attention grabbing? And how come they look away when I engage them?

50 years ago everyone wore suits. Today almost nobody does. You are standing out as either someone who has a higher-end job or takes pride in wearing finer things.

Women notice that.

Because it is becoming increasingly rare for North American men to wear suits to work. There are really only two professions left where wearing a suit and tie on a daily basis is still standard practice: lawyers and bankers (both high status professions, obviously). When you wear a suit, you stand out, especially when outside of your city's financial district.

It boils down to power. When they see a suit, it conveys power. All the other things that are implied (money, status) fall under the ubrella of power.
I always preach far and wide that a man should always dress better than those surrounding him. It's your suit of armor and that armor sparkles in a lady's eye just as much as a diamond does.

A good suit outfit costs $2000 including topcoat, etc.

That's if you want to overpay for everything. Even low end suits still look nice if tailored well.

The tailoring is what makes you look good and professional, not the brand name.

It shows class. Take a look at all the other "Average Joe" type of guys. A suit makes you stand out and states that you are superior. It takes class to wear a suit and make it look good. It takes absolutely no effort to throw on a t-shirt and some shorts/jeans. It also speaks volumes about who you are and how you portray yourself.

Here is what I wear on my person most winter days:

Sport coat: $400.
Pants: $125 tailored.
Shoes: $125.
Shirt: $50.
Belt or suspenders:$50.
Watch: $300.
Topcoat: $350
Cuff links: $50.
Cap: $25
Winter hat with ear flaps: $50.
Scarf: $40
Socks: $10.
Underwear: $8.
Collar tabs: $2.
Smart phone: $300.
Notebook: $25.
Wallet: $40.
Cash in wallet: $50.

Total: $2000

With concealed weapon: $2500.

Granted I included accessories, but none of those items were top dollar. Never pay retail. Offer half.

Low end means cheap. Not being cheap does not mean overpaying.

The term you're looking for is "frugal". A frugal man is willing to shell out a bit more for quality while a cheap man only cares about getting the lowest price and doesn't care if it might fall apart in less than a year.

There is no such thing as a well-tailored cheap suit. You get what you pay for.

Classic men's clothing has been perfected over hundreds of years to make the man wearing it look good. It arrow-points attention straight at your face, rather than your chest, abdomen, or butt. Except for professional men and their wives, hardly anyone nowadays knows the difference between a business suit and a casual blazer with slacks.

You see, it's not the price you pay, or the fit, or the quality of materials and workmanship. What reveals so much positive attention is the fact that you didn't set out, first thing in the morning, to azz fvck yourself the whole day by dressing the clown -- like everybody else does. It's not that you get any more positive attention than you would have otherwise. It's that you cut out about 90% of the negative attention served to a man who's still wearing the same T-shirt and blue jeans that his mom thought was so cute when he was two years old.

When the planes were grounded on 911, I could hear trucks passing on a freeway over a mile away. Only then did I realize just how much background noise is added by air traffic. When you put on men's clothing, instead of prison or farm togs, only then will you realize just how much you were drowning in disrespect.

I have paid $2000+ for a complete suit. I have also paid $500. Sure the $2000 suit looks amazing on me, but the $500 suit looks great on me and the difference is hardly noticeable except to the EXTREMELY discerning eye. You must be a fashionista to appreciate the difference. Most people don't have the knowledge to know the difference.

technically speaking you can go to a thrift / consignment store and get a very well made suit if you catch them on the right day for pennies on the dollar. i have 2 suits in my wardrobe that i paid 10 bucks each for and both are 100% custom tailored one is chalk stripped and one is navy blue.

take them to the cleaners then to the talior and it's good as new. if it's a good suit in the first place

but that is extrelye rare and i hit up thrift stores about once a week looking for ****.

the biggest difference between a "cheap" suit and a good suit are the sholders. if you are a complete novice to suits and you want to know if a suit is going to look like **** take your hand and put it on the shoulder area.

what you want a good suit is to feel like the arm and the sholder are 1 peice of clothing not 2. cheap suits "fuze" shoulders and arms together and it comes off looking blocky and cheap. you want unfuzed.

all those men's warehouse/department store suits have fuzed sholders. the lowest i'd go is brooks brothers or something along those lines. even expensive suits like DKNY or the lower end hugo boss suits for instance use fuzed sholders and you are paying for name only.

women love suits. i dress up often. i said it in the other thread last week it's partly why i get a lot of attention i don't dress down. i'm a 2 piece /white shirt/suspenders/specators t ype guy. women dig it. alot.

About to put on a suit and tie to have dinner in Manhattan. I've had a dozen women approach me in the city and the suit is always a factor.

Exactly, the difference between low and high-end suits aren't as obvious as seeing a Chrysler 300 next to a Bentley.

They love it for 2 reasons:

1) what it represents.
2) how it makes YOU feel about yourself.

when you wear one, you feel like a f*cking boss, and you carry yourself like one too. you exude confidence, and people pick up on that.

Men's Warehouse has a lot of brands, from $250 suits to over $1000 suits.

I've never felt like the shoulders were "blocky" or "fused." The shoulder of a suit isn't supposed to fit like a t-shirt, there are shoulder pads in suits for a reason, it gives the suit form. Granted you don't want to look like a football player, but the shoulder pads in a suit make small men look bigger.

I thought you were talking about the suit itself, meaning the jacket, vest, and pants. My most expensive suit alone is around $1000 including the tailoring involved (they had to completely reconstruct the pants because I have broad shoulders so the pants that matched the jacket were made for a fat man lol). Throwing in accessories I could be wearing well over $3000 on my person, but I was just talking about buying just a suit for $2000 which is absurd in my opinion.
