Why do women do this? And how should I respond?

So I have met a few American college girls because I am part of a traveller's organisation that hosts foreign students (I am in Australia). A couple of times, I have met up with girls who seem interested and then don't hear back from them. Now this is not a big deal to me as I work full-time, and most of these girls live on campus so I figure they have probably met some other guy in the dorms or something (US girls get a lot of attention here!) so I don't put too much effort into it. However, a couple of times, I write to them asking them if they want to catch up. They usually say no, and I repond by nexting them, being polite about it but showing I am not too fussed either way. However, when I do this, they repond by saying they now want to catch up. However, when I agree and try to set a time or date, they flake out again.

Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong, and if there is any way I can change my approach so that they will follow through? Or should I just assume that they want the ego-stroke of knowing a guy wants to see them again but have no intention of ever meeting up again?

HB:...um, Hi.

Firefly: How are ya!

HB: Why are you talking like that?

Firefly: Ok, today we're lookin for the big boobasauras! When you chase them, they run from ya, so shhhhhh!

HB: Okay, I'm hanging up.

Firefly: Wait!

Nah, it is usually just a quick message along the lines of "Want to meet up for drinks sometime?".

They just needed the reasurrance that they're still attractive because a guy hadn't validated them for a while.

See women in the states feel very insecure if they don't receive attention. So they keep guys around just to make themselves feel good. Once they get the validation they feel they deserve they just go back to eating cheeseburgers and other cheese related products.

Don't get confused by their "niceness" it's all an act to attract more worshipers. They are not nice people.

Too vague. You want a date? You offer it via phone call or in person.

This is your problem. You don't say..."Want to meet up for drinks sometime?".

Don't give her a chance to so no.

Say "I'm free Thursday and Friday, meet at XYZ club for some drinks.
What day works best for you?".

If shes busy both days then ask her when shes not busy.
If she gives you the run around then tell her how much
fun she'll be missing out on. Then say good bye... and move on.

Dude I would actually go with the "boobasaurus" bit... use the accent to your advantage as much as possible. You're miles ahead of American AFCs in the fact that you realize it's the women here with a problem.
