My response will likely be lengthy, but trust me. You'll get something out of it. I'm not trying to sound like a know-it-all... just hoping that I can prevent you from some of my previous mistakes.

Although I'm closer to being an atheist these days, when I was younger, I had this same thought (actually, I thought that God had a morbid sense humor). Now much older and having a lot more experience, I have also gained some clarity.
Here are two main reasons that women seem more abundant to you -when you are already in a relationship.
1. You are giving off a different vibe. This isn't something that you may be consciously aware of, but hear me out. When in a relationship, our persona can be different. In short; we are more calm cool and collective. The reason is because we aren't trying to impress or persuade a girl (we already have one). This independence of not really caring about their approval etc... is very attractive to women.
And this is one reason that we can appear to be more of a magnet to women -once we are already invested in one.
2. Women can be very competitive. If you are already taken by a gal, some women will find you to be a challenge or will chase you for the validation. I'm not saying that every women is like this, but you'd be surprised at how many women behave like this.

I'd be careful about this "grass is always greener" situation. A lot of times, we can become tired, complacent etc... with a current girlfriend. And when someone new comes a long, they can appear new, fresh and exciting. There's also some truth to the old saying that "we don't know what we have until it's gone."
Sometimes, you'll discover that once you are available to see the new gal-interest, you've taken away the challenge. And/or... you no longer possess that former independent persona that you had (when you were in a relationship). In other words, the grass may look greener, but once you get a closer look, you may discover otherwise.
I don't want to cheat or be a player but it's fun to be around the new one...and i know i am starting to drift away from my original love
In the end, it comes down to this. Do you want to act on impulse? Or, do you want to feel good about yourself in the morning.
I cheated once. The drive, desire and the conquest felt good, but the aftermath of guilt, letting myself down, letting a decent girlfriend down etc...lasted a *whole* lot longer.
This may be one of those situations ... where you have to find out for yourself. Personally, if I could go back in time, I would not have cheated. It's not like I cheated on the woman that I would have planned on marrying, but she didn't deserve what I did.
