Why are girl's alway's so busy and seem to care only about themselves at times?

I am wondering, why is it that girl's are alway's saying they are busy? It's rather annoying and it makes it harder to get to know the girl. The girl is preoccupied with other things in their lives, and you start lose contact with them once you feel you have gotten to know them!
Any advice would be helpful!
