Because I have little time for working out I've been lifting with a short, whole body lifting routine for the last four months. I've been lifting about every 3-4 days, so in other words, about twice a week. My routine is as bare-bones as possible--consisting of only three exercises--a bench bress, T-bar row and a leg press (three sets each, ten repetitions per set). I really have no intention of increasing my workout session beyond three exercises (even to cover the shoulders, biceps, and triceps more completely) so don't even try to talk me into it. But I would still like to make whatever gains I can as efficiently as possible so I'm wondering if I may be working my muscle groups too often because I work them twice a week as opposed to once a week which most people here subscribe to. Now I know that most people here lift with split routines, target each muscle group with 8-12 sets and make sure to work each muscle group only once a week. But because I'm only hitting each muscle with three sets at a time should I also be waiting a week to lift again or will I be fine with going twice a week? Needless to say if I should be working a set of muscles only once a week (regardless of how much stimulation I give them) I'll develop a split routine to target my shoulders, biceps and triceps a little better—but I still don’t intend on lifting more than twice a week or doing more than three exercises at a time (I told you I’m all about efficiency when it comes to lifting )
