Nerds in general are more quiet and wont be too noisy to wake you up before your 8 am class. Also, less chance of late night booty calls to shake the walls next to you in your own room. Partiers are better in terms of meeting girls. They bring the girls to your house, and its up to you to close them. But then again, late night parties means louder living conditions. What would you guys pick? Should i just live with nerds and take initiative to bring the girls back to my pad?

what year are you in?

nerds = meet no one, living life always wondering "how much more fun could i have had"
do not mis the chance for amazing social life at Uni

and find people who can party AND study many people can manage this (college aint always so black and white)

most partiers will need to quiet down and study at some point, also they can acept and respect you may be doing a harder course so wont be able to do everything, if you set it right

you can go to a study area sssuch a the library to be on your own and study when u need some quiet time.....

be friends with nerds too they can help you learn and do group projects etc...(give them some access to your social life and they will see you as high value)

in my experience (it probaly depends a bit on the course/uni) that there are NOT MANY people who only party and dont do work, those types normally leave at the end of the first year, every one else left (if they go out or not) wants to get reasonable grades

also dont think just coz people dont go out much they are getting amazing grades, ive known some who dont go out and are lazy wiht work (sit around playing games are whatever)

I don't think it really matters unless you really care about doing well in school and if that's your main focus live with nerds. But when you think about it living in the dorms will still almost guarantee you getting into college parties anyway and having fun. So it's not like you are going to sacrifice your "college experience" and having fun because you are living with nerds instead of crazy partiers.

The only people that don't have fun in college are those that don't live there or go to commuter schools/community college. Other than that you shouldn't worry you will have lots of fun I'm sure.

Take it from me I went to community colleges and then a commuter university. I never got the "college experience" like you will get living in the dorms so just don't worry about it and enjoy the best times of your life. Not only will you have fun but if you need to study just go to the freakin library if you end up living with partiers! problem solved.

op i think you are also asuming that Nerds are good to work with, many are not and dont want to help others out with work ...etc ..."nerd snobbery"

you make the main factor between good grades or not, you can be proactive and driven living with 'partiers' and get very good grades, you will be motived to finish work to have fun, you can easily seperate your mindsets - fun crazy party mindset OR seirous and hard working focused,
OR
live with nerds and be lazy and unorganized, ther will be no motivation to get work done quickly (nothign to look forward to except watrching tv or some crap), you will always be 'in your head' and life will be a drag....

its YOU that makes the difference with grades not the other people
-----
keep in mind that suce in life and at work is using good social skills not just grades - "nerds" do not have these as much

------------

two books you MUST read:
- how to win freinds and influence people
- never eat alone
also Game helps with being a better person in non-sex/RL parts of life to...

a too simplistic argument

just living in dorm wont ensure you have the "college experience"... lots of boring people live in droms and do fu.ck all - they have no scoial skills etc...

tho living in dorms does give you OPPORTUNITY to make the most of what is on offer

I lived with nerds for a year and it sucked. You can always sleep with earplugs in if your roommates are loud, and go to the library to study.

You can easily find people who want to party and study hard. As for "nerds", I guess there's some of those, but for the most part I find that in college the kids who were considered nerds suddenly are well socially-adjusted. One of my good friends is an honors physics guy... He'll study all day, beat his head against the wall trying to find the solution for a problem, make sure his assignments are 100% perfect, and then call you up and ask where the party's at tonight.

There are smart people out there who will insist on getting hammered and going to that girl's place on friday.
