Whey Protein and Belly Fat

I'm a bit worried. I recently bought Whey Protein (the powdery version in the packet for $14.99 at GNC) and since then it seems to me as if the amount of fat in my belly area (in the middle) has increased and this is making me uncomfortable. I used to have a pretty flat stomach. I'm particularly worried because I'm trying to do a shoot to send some pics to some possible modeling agencies and if they think you kinda have a belly, you certainly won't make the cut. What can I do to eliminate belly fat from my body? Are there any foods some of you would recommend and do those of you who are experienced with Whey Protein think this might have something to do with it? I don't eat French fries and deep friend stuff and I'm very active for the most part. I walk several miles every day to get around as I don't have a car. Plus, I go to the gym as well.

I also have the feeling that ever since I started taking Whey Protein, I've had a sudden increase in appetite that appears to be a little more than normal. I could eat a whole burrito at Qdoba but still feel as if I need to eat something else after that.

could just be that this particular brand of protein bloats you (it's very common) - stop taking it and you should be back to normal in a couple of day

I'm taking the same stuff and having the same effects, although I am a skinny dude so I'm not really complaining about the effects. My goal is to gain 10 more lbs.

Re:

Yeah, I think I would stop taking it. The discomfort involved just isn't worth it. I feel constipated and bloated very often. Is there another sort of powdery protein that you could recommend that hopefully doesn't have the same side effects? The reason I bought the Whey Protein was because I realized that a lot of my money used to go toward purchasing individual protein bars after my work outs...and those purchases all added up in the end, costing me a lot.

Just try another brand of protein. The stores own brands (GNC, Walmart) tend to be of poor quality and are mostly whey concentrate which can bloat you..

Choose a whey isolate from trueprotein.com or 1fast400.com, it's affordable if bought in bulk

Re:

I've been taking it with water and putting the mixture in the blender as the instructions suggest. I don't think I could take it much longer anymore. I now recall that it says on the packet, "Significant product settling may occur," whatever that means.

Frankie, GNC proteins are notorious for being El Cheapo , with the worst filtration in any protein. Don't buy their protein. It's all crap.
Buy only name brands. Plus, GNC is unGodly over priced. No reason to over pay for something you can get online for 20 sometimes 30 dollars cheaper.
Try eiither Cytosport Muscle Milk, BSN Syntha 6, MHP Probolic (you will need to use a blender with this one, because of the consistency of the Protein blend. But that's a good thing. ) , and VPX Micellean.
All are excellent proteins, filtered WELL, have good addtives, and can be mixed with a spoon. They taste great in Milk or water. And don't bloat you. And they're good for you too.
Another piece of advice. Try digestive enzymes with your protein. They'll help you digest it easier, and help your body absorb more protein. No digestive stress.

Do you have a favorite site for buying these for cheap? I think GNC is crazy expensive too. Also, how much protein do you get in these drinks you mention above per serving?

I just shop around. Seriously, I'm not really loyal to one site. If I can find it cheaper at another, I'll buy it there.
As far as servings, the average serving cup holds roughly 17 to 20 Grams of product. IN each serving the actual Protein amount may vary. Since some Proteins add extra Glutamine. Arginine, BCAAs,Viitamins,Minerals, Creatine, Fiber, EFAs, etc, then pay attention to the actual amount of Protein in each cup you use. You'll see it on the label. For instance, in 1 25 gram cup, you may only get 17 grams of actual Protein more or less. Of course, that varies. And honestly, I also put in heaping cups. I already know what amounts I need, and know it viusally by now,
Remember, try to get at least 1 Gram per pound of LEAN mass per day.
Meaning, say your 200 lbs, but you have 180 lbs of lean mass, then go for at LEAST 180 grams of Protein per day everyday. Divide your servings by 6 meals per day.
6 divided by 180 is 30. So try to get at least 30 Grams of Protein in each meal.

You can go up to 1.5 and 2 grams per pound, but also maniopulate your Fats and Carbs.
And you may also want to investigate some digestve enzymes if you want to up your Protein. You can go above maintenance levels, but your protein works better if you properly adjuct the Fats and carbs too.
You can do this for Bulking or Leaning out.

You must have to take a lot of cups(at 17 grams) to get your full dosage for the day.
