I find that's true of all single women who are in their mid 30s and older. They're usually bitter as fvck. Just as you would experience in the US and other parts of the world, you would find in African countries, posh and extremely splendid neighborhoods that look like those you would find in Beverly Hills California or in New York, in various US suburbs, etc. You would find upper middle class folk, very wealthy folk, middle class folk, lower middle class folk, and poor people. There are equally very tall buildings/sky scrapers, malls, beautiful restaurants, movie theatres, beaches, beautiful cities, soccer stadiums, basketball courts, etc. At the same time there are equally very poor, unsafe neighborhoods like you would find in the US.


The problem is the media tends to deceive people into thinking the overwhelming majority of Africans all have HIV/AIDS, are starving, poor and miserable. It's kind of like going to the US and choosing to perhaps ignore the big cities and focus solely on the most remote and poorest rural areas in the US and then using that to represent the entire country. The woman in question is a fairly middle class, dignified lady. It's true there's a lot of materialistic women here just as you would find in other parts of the world...but for the most part I do my best to steer clear of women who are only on the receiving end. And like elsewhere in the world, there are also lots of beautiful, healthy women in African countries. The key is just to try to stick with one while you're here and then get both of yourselves regularly tested.
