When you were growing up...

did you ever feel that you were in the middle of a transition, between a boy and a man?
I feel I'm at that point in my life.
I'm 17 and I'm taking a year out before I go to Uni to try and sort myself out.
I have no idea what I'm going to do at Uni, I have no idea who I am as a person or what I want to do with my life. I've been trying to gain meaning through philosophy; Christianity, Buddhism etc.I feel like crying as I write this, I just have no clue at all. I've tried numerous self-help books, websites etc.
What should I do?

being a man is simple, its making the tough choices in life, taking the high road when you can, and living with the consequences without blaming the world for your lot in life.

once you got that down then the other part to being a man is realizing that no one has all the answers and that the fun in life is pushing forward in search of new expereinces and answers.

there is no transitioning into manhood, there is a moment of awakening where you realize your life is yours, you are responsible for it, and that life is one big crazy ride that never fully makes sense.

another way you know you're officially a man is if you can say you live by what al pacino said in scareface:

"All i got in this life is my balls and my word and i don't break em for no one."

when you can deal with the uncertainties and stresses of life and not beat yourself up over them, you're a man.

a girl become woman when she learns how to master a man.

a boy becomes a man when he learns to master himself.

At 17 I had no clue either, man. Find something you like to do and then go after it 100% Whether it's a job or some kind of activity like martial arts or picking up women. Just take something you love and commit to becoming great at it.

You've really got the world by the balls right now because you have all the time in the world to get good at whatever you choose to do.
