.. think again. Because sometimes, things aren't what they seem to be.

I'm going to share a great analogy with all of you when I was in sales training, provided by one of the best insurance companies in Malaysia, and probably globally too (AIA/AIG). It was actually meant for sales, so I reworded some of it, while still keeping the original point intact:

What IS impossible, actually? Is it being #1 in your company/school, even if you've been wanting that for a long time? Is it approaching beautiful women because cold-pickups 'just ain't your thing'? Is it being someone recognized and wealthy? I am glad to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, that NOTHING is impossible!

If babies in their mothers womb right before birth were able to think like adults did, the human race would've been extinct right after Adam popped a boner. The baby would be thinking "I'm supposed to get out through that hole? Wtf, its too small! Its impossible! I'd probably die halfway through! I should just stay here. Its cosy enough. I don't need any unnecessary risks!"

Of course, with that mentality, the baby dies eventually. So will you, if you don't start pushing forward in your life. Forget that little voice inside your head telling you that things are out of reach. If its something realistic (sometimes unrealistic things can come true too. Remember when everyone thought the world was flat?), you don't have much to worry about. Just turn off any doubts you might have, especially if someone else has done it before.. and work your way towards it.

Obviously, going through some hardship is necessary to reach where you intended to be. If you could laze around and whine about how life sucks and still be successful in life, then drop me a mail because I'd love to know how. If the above statement was true, you wouldn't see bums and drunks on the streets. With control over what you think, things are achievable.

Not motivated enough?

Here's an extra tip that helps me stay motivated. I've had a pinhole in my lung before and I was in an "If only" state during my stay in the hospital. This experience helped me a lot.

Nothing is certain in life, except death. Imagine yourself in your deathbed. Then imagine what you regretted not doing most. Imagine how it wouldn't hurt to have just did what you wanted to. Imagine how life would've been if you did. Keep that in mind, because we all die someday, FOR SURE. You want to continue slaving, working eight hours a day, five days a week, for ten years in a row, without even trying to climb the corporate ladder? You want to chicken out asking this cute girl out on a date because you're SCARED?

Come on. Those are the exact things you wish you'd have done, when you have no chance to do them anymore. Think about how you'd feel when you're dying. If only..

Yeah, couse, this goes back to an old shamanic priniciple, that nothing matters outside your own death.

It's a good attitude to take - that you could die the next minute.

It'll make you do things your normally wouldn't, cos let's face it, we're all on borrowed time, but most of us don't realise it, and probably won't till it's too late.

So then, as the last embers of life are sucked out your body and death is upon you, you won't think that going up to that pretty girl way back when was such a big deal. Cos what's the worst that could happen? compared to your inevitable death it's nothing.
