I was reading some of redXL's posts and there was one I came across that said a bunch of no no's and one said "For the love of God please dont wear jean shorts!"

WHat the hell is wrong with jean shorts? Rite now thats all I wear. Jean shorts, and long jeans. Im more into that urban look with the jeans and the shirt or jersey. So what the hell is wrong with jean shorts? I also noticed that not many people in my school wear jean shorts either. So is it really that bad? Am I doing something wrong and I just havent noticed?

Oh, and the reason why all I have is jeans is because first, I dont have money to buy clothes that I would really like and second, Im a big person, and intimidating according to alot of people, so I wouldnt look that good with freaking dockers or slacks and a collar shirt if so that my belly sticks out and my pants look tight.

Dont worry though, Im working on getting in shape. Im coming back next year a new person, hell I might even change my style of clothes if wearing jean shorts is that bad.

Jean shorts was a no-no awhile back, but fortunately for you, they seem to be back instyle this summer... that is, according to askmen.com: http://www.askmen.com/fashion/trends_60/85_fashion_men.html

Just refrain from making your own shorts by cuttig your old jeans (not cool)...

And for the love of god, no black jeans...

My happy place
i'm not the fashion police, and i try not to discriminate against people who wear "out of style" ****.

However, jean shorts just bring images of 80's stoned out rockers and old drug addicts to mind. It also reminds me of Homo sexually engaged men.

Of course you don't have to take this to heart. Cause it really shouldn't matter to you what people think of you. However, one of the rules of power state. "think as you like, but do as others do."

I wear quicksilver and billabong shorts that aren't too flashy, that go down at just above my knees. Simple and in style. Works for me anyway.

thats funny cuz most of my jeans are black. Now they are not PLAIN black they are like black with gold trimmings and big logos on the back and on the side pockets. I guess im out of style. My shorts are oversized and go down below my knees. Sometimes I have that all black gangsta look. I cant do anything about it right now because I dont have any money but when I get a job I will buy new gear according to the trends.

It will be a big change though. All my life I had that urban gangsta look. I just cant imagine myself with some slacks or some boots and a collar shirt. Actually I do wear collar shirts but I never wear slacks along with it.

Black jeans are fine, so long as you can pull it off. And chances are that you can't. Unless you're in a rock band, or you're Hedi Slimane (Head of Design for Christian Dior Homme, who wears black jeans, a white dress shirt, black wool jacket, and a pencil thin tie like a uniform, and wears it WELL) you're gonna look stupid.

Askmen is ok and all, but I wouldn't consider it the be-all and end-all of fashion "advice". I personally would not wear jean-shorts, or jet black jeans, but then again, almost anything denim is *in* this summer. Also - almost ANYTHING is in for men this summer, just mix and match styles(which is what I'm doin at the moment) although today I look totally 70's

In this Economy?
wear what you like to wear

there are too many ppl saying that we should all be wearing the same thing

when it comes to clothing too many men lack taste so they just go where they see ads or what everyone else is wearing

some of the most complimented clothes i have cost me very little or got it from my old man. Though my dad dresses very well.

Maybe this is just me, but I never really got into the whole damn baggy pant thing. Also, the thing about the golden logos and large prints on your backpockets seems a bit lavish to me. I prefer suble things, but that's just me I guess. For instance, tonight I wore this when I went out:

White-on-white Nike's (not AF1's)
A pair of blue jeans, not baggy or anything, just normal gap jeans
A Brandon Lloyd Illini Jersey (represent)

Nothing that stands out too much IMO, but good enough looking to be.....good.

Why not black jeans? I have a very nice and expensive pair. It's not the rough that normal jeans feel like, but the hairs on it are REALLY soft and feel great.

Its just typically a fashion no-no for black jeans. However, rules are meant to be broken. Some people can sport black jeans quite well. Uusally if you wear'em you should pair it with a shirt with the same shade of black, and black shoes.

Do you mean "Jersey" as the shirts that have a different color collor and sleeve? Or the one they use in sports?

Listen, I used to be JUST like you last summer. I started to train hard and do a lot of cardio/diet. It's not easy. You really have to commit yourself. You will feel A LOT better when you lose weight. It's instant confidence. I used to have the "gangsta" look when I was heavy, now it has all changed. Don't give up man, its all worth it.

It's a replica football jersey, so I guess it's the one they use in sports, digitalrat.
