Or how would you react, she was in my league in the looks department.

I dont go to clubs often or bars really and when I do its not to pick up just to have some drinks with friends and dance.
I also dont keep female friends and keep contact with them to a minimum.

I was standing at the bar of a club still a bit sober and the girl standing next to me who was equally sober casually turned her head to me as she kept her body language closed clutching her drink and started up some small talk with me.

My instinct tells me she just wanted to talk am I right on this or is this an IOI?

If you had to come on here and inquire about it, then it's an "IOI". Always trust your gut. The fact that it has you wondering means there was a spark of interest there, even if only for a brief moment.
