So it's 11:30 p.m. Sunday night,I live in a upper middle-class neighborhood(on the decline),I'm on my PC and watching Le Mans Racing on TV...Someone is banging on the front door. I open the window(has a screen) that located next to the door;

bw- 'can I help you?'(All I can see from where I'm at is a old asain lady,possibly 55-60y/o,holding a gas can)

guy(pops into my view,40-50,black,smells of alcohol)-'Were out of gas,are your parents home?'

bw-'Yeah,why?'

guy-'Could we barrow some cash to get some gas?'

bw-'No I don't think so.'

guy-'Come on,your parents don't have cash?'

bw-'No.'(dead serious look on my face)

guy-'cant you just ask your parents for some cash'

bw-'I don't think so'(I knew he was up to something)

guy-'Psh...o.k. then.'(they both turn around and leave)

something seemed fishy;
-first off,the guy smelt of alcohol as soon as he opened his mouth
-he wanted to know if my parents were home,he didn't care if I had cash.
-Who is he to give me attitude,what would he do if someone Randoms role up his house on a Sunday night?

What would you guys do in this situation? Was there anything that I could have improved on? I just grabbed the bat in anticipation that they will come back and vandalize one of the cars in front of my house tonight.

BW, I think you did the best thing by defusing the sitution. They probably won't be back to vandalize your cars because you didn't piss them off.

If it were me, I would have done the same thing, but afterwards I probably would have stepped outside and watched where they went.

I would have got them on video tape. If I see something sketch going on in my hood, I have no problem busting out the DV camera. Some guy was once scoping out my neighbor's car, but when he saw me video taping him, he bounced. If he would have come at me.... well.... let's just say everything would be nice and legal ... :trouble:

At 11:30 a young hot 21 year old blonde with big boobs, and her 18 year old sister with bib boobs but brunette, would knock on your door and ask for some money to buy some gas???? Oh yea, the younger girl had some alcohol smell from her breath...

Not sure how your doors are, but I would have slipped a few singles through a crack and said 'have a nice night.' But I can understand the uneasy feeling, I live in a neighborhood that's really slipped in the last few years.
