What to tell a woman when you don't have a job?

I've come across this several times. I'm a senior and maybe half the guys have jobs or more. I am fortunate enough to live in a family where I am a bit spoiled.

I have enough money just doing nothing to go out a few times a month and pay for reasonable priced meals with a woman, pay for gas and other stuff. I'd rather focus my spare time on studying.

I've had several women ask me "where do you work" when I start up conversations with them.

I get the feeling when I say I don't this marks me down in their book. They see this as possibly not having money to spend on them, not having ambitions, etc.

I'm wondering if anyone else out there has some way to spin the answer or something to help avoid them getting this impression.

HOLY COMOLY!! Exact same boat as you my friend...I am a senior in HS come septemeber and I am of a few that has never had a job..what do I say?? I am more concerned about my grades tooo and my family is well off so I too am spoiled..Good thread, I hope someone has anwsers..

You're over-analyzing things. If she asks why you don't have a job...tell her that you're studying so you can be successful!

I told this one girl that at 18 I'm a consultant for a fortune 500 company that is located in the city, and that I do risk assesment etc... She asks what I get paid and I say I can't tell you that because it would breach my contract and I would be fired and would not get a severance package. When she ask exactly what I do I just say that I cannot go into detail but basically I just give presentations every other week with one major presentation outlining the big points every month and that I do most my work on the computer at home and go to the office to do research I cannot do at home. lol she hasnt yet but she will ask why im not living the life of throwing cash around, well I invest for the future I have a ira 401k and investment portfolio.

Basically just have fun with it

I really like the "getting through in life on good looks alone one".

I've heard the Calvin Cline one too many times before, comes off as a line and if they have heard it before they probably won't laugh.

I think calling her poor is too over the top for a neg-hit kind of responce. (which is what I think you were going for there)

I have to admit though, that probably would stop her in her tracks and make her look at me in a new way, but I don't think it would be positive.

I use a good answer to these types of questions. I do work by the way its just i never give direct answers and it always keeps them guessing. Anyway what i might say to a question such as ''what do u do for work'' is ''I could tell you, but then id have to kill you.''
